The 2016 Elite Prospect Showcase took place Saturday, October 29th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA with nearly 70 prospects from four states displaying their skills. Today we begin our analysis of all prospects in attendance by reviewing those players who showcased as outfielders.

top prospect

Connor Rakow, 2019, Franklin Area
Athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame and athletic actions across the board make Rakow the top outfield prospect at this event. The sophomore ran a 6.88 60-yard dash, flashed 85 mph arm strength from the outfield and displayed a fluid right-handed swing with an 88 mph bat exit velocity. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a short, leg-lift stride and solid hip turn to create considerable barrel whip. Rakow gets to extension routinely and shows present gap-to-gap power with an above average feel for the barrel.

Liam Clarke, 2017, State College Area
Uncommitted senior left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Stays behind the baseball routinely and hands work well through contact. Displayed a solid feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. 5-foot-11, 175-pounder showcased athletic actions defensively with straight line carry on throws of 79 mph to home plate. Clarke ran a 7.15 60-yard dash and displayed the ability to play through the baseball on a regular basis.

Nathan Loser, 2018, Manheim Central
Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a short, leg-lift stride. Displayed a strong hip turn and the ability to drive both gaps during a solid round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. 5-foot-11, 160-pounder turned in one of the top 60-yard dash times of the event at 6.79. The junior displayed 78 mph arm strength defensively with a developing defensive skill set that should play as a corner outfielder at the next level.

Jared Moore, 2019, Owen J. Roberts
5-foot-7, 155-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Stays behind the baseball well and a flat barrel path allows him to stay in the hitting zone for long periods of time. Displayed a solid feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. The sophomore ran a 7.47 60-yard dash and showcased 71 mph arm strength from the outfield with a short arm throwing motion.

Mark Peterson, 2017, Hempfield
Uncommitted senior right-handed hitter starts from a crouched, slightly open stance with a high hands load and initiates his swing with a leg-lift stride. Displayed the ability to routinely barrel the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. 6-foot-1, 170-pounder showcased straight line carry on throws of 77 mph to home plate with above average foot speed (6.91 60-yard dash).
