Elite Prospect Showcase Analysis: Class of 2019

The 2015 Elite Prospect Showcase took place Saturday, November 7th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA with 75 prospects from four  states displaying their skills. Today we continue our analysis of all prospects in attendance by reviewing members of the Class of 2019. Just four of the prospects in attendance fall into the category of freshman, and while none have donned a high school uniform to date, each showcased skills that will make them prospects to watch during the course of their high school careers.

class of 2019 prospects:


C Sam Aslansan, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (PA)
Sam Aslansan5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitter initiates his swing with a toe tap stride. Displayed a line drive approach with a solid feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. Showcased sound catch and throw skills with accurate 69 mph arm strength from the crouch. A clean transition and solid footwork leads to pop times of 2.28-2.44. Physical maturity and strength gains should lead to development in all areas of the game.

OF/RHP Connor Rakow, Franklin Area HS (PA)
5-foot-11, 160-pound two-way prospect ran a 7.19 60-yard dash and showcased athletic
Connor Rakowactions defensively. Demonstrated ability to play through the baseball with an accurate 83
mph arm from the outfield. Right-handed hitter initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride from a square stance. Displayed a flat barrel path and a feel for the barrel with limited lower half action. Additional work to better incorporate lower half will lead to an increase in current 81 mph bat exit velocity and the potential for some power. Righty sat 77-79 on the mound out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Additional information on Rakow's bullpen session will be forthcoming in an article highlighting Class of 2019/2019 pitchers (11/19/2015).

RHP/1B Nick Embleton, East Pennsboro HS (PA)
Nick Embleton6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from an exaggerated open stance and utilizes a leg lift stride to initiate his swing. Embleton creates significant barrel whip (90 mph bat exit) and his flat barrel path allows him to stay in the hitting zone for long periods of time. Ran a 7.17 60-yard dash and displayed the ability to play through the baseball with accurate throws of 81 mph from the outfield. Righty sat 77-80 from a 3/4 arm slot. C Kollin Henneman, Big Spring HS (PA)
Kollin Henneman5-foot-8, 190-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a heel raise stride. Utilizes a direct swing path with a solid lower half turn to create a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Showcased improving arm strength of 71 mph out of the crouch with solid straight line carry. Displayed above average blocking skills and a clean transition with consistently accurate throws.
