Eastern PA Top Prospect Games Spotlight: 2021 C/OF Eric Genther

The Eastern PA Top Prospect Games annually showcases roughly 70 top uncommitted prospects across the state and from a few surrounding states. 2019 marks the 8th year for this event with hundreds of former participants having gone on to college commitments and to professional baseball.
As we draw closer to June we will be periodically highlighting some of the prospects scheduled to participate. Today we continue our preview with a look at 2021 C/OF Eric Genther. The right-handed hitter was a standout at the Preseason Preview Showcase in January.

Scouting Report
6-foot-1, 165-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and incorporates a lift-and-replace stride to begin. Displayed advanced feel for the barrel and an ability to stay behind the baseball during a very good round of batting practice. Registered an 85 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.16 60-yard dash. Flashed pop times of 2.12-2.21 on throws of 76 mph from the crouch and displayed a soft glove hand defensively.
6-foot-1, 165-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Displayed a flat barrel path through the hitting zone and a solid feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 76 mph. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash and showcased pop times of 2.20-2.28 on throws of 70 mph from the crouch. Showcased quick feet and a clean transition but does not fully incorporate lower half in throwing motion.
