TOP PROSPECTs
James Petrick, 2019, RHP/OF, Pennridge HS (PA)
5-foot-10, 160-pound primary pitcher sat 85-87 from a 3/4 arm slot with arm-side run to his fastball. Repeats deliver well with a side rocker step to begin and hip coil that adds to deception. Broad shoulders and quick arm action should lead to strength gains and velocity spikes moving forward. Two-seam fastball shows heavy arm-side run and sink when he stays on top of it. Slider shows late, sharp break and is an above average out pitch at this time. The addition of a quality changeup would give Petrick three college ready pitches to work with at the next level. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and begins his swing with a leg-lift stride. Showcased a feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash and registered accurate 91 mph arm strength from the outfield during defensive evaluations.
Remainder of Roster: (in alphabetical order)
Sammy Schutz, 2019, OF/RHP, Malvern Prep (PA)
5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing from a low hands load. An upward path through the hitting zone leads to some backspin with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Ran a 7.07 60-yard dash and showcased athletic actions in the outfield with accurate 85 mph arm strength. Sat 77-79 out of a high 3/4 arm slot on the mound. His curveball at 68-60 showed tight 11/5 rotation and his changeup at 68-70 was thrown at fastball arm speed with late sink. Solid follow as a two-way prospect in this class.
Hayden Fox, 2019, RHP, Solanco HS (PA)
6-foot, 180-pound right-hander sat 82-83 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a balanced, repeatable delivery. Additional work to stay directional to the plate could lead to a velocity spike moving forward. Curveball shows average depth at 66-68 with 11/5 rotation. Slider is an above average offering with late, tight break at 76-78. Changeup at 76-77 is thrown at near fastball arm speed. Displayed a feel for all four offerings with command of the zone.
Will Greiner, 2019, LHP/OF, Manheim Township HS (PA)
6-foot, 155-pound primary pitcher sat 77-81 from an over-the-top arm slot. Also displayed a curveball with 1/7 rotation at 62-65 and a changeup at near fastball arm speed that sat 66-69. Additional work to better incorporate lower half in delivery would lead to a spike in velocity. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short, leg-hang stride. Showcased a line drive approach with a direct swing path and a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash and played through the baseball consistently with accurate 81 mph arm strength from the outfield.
Stephen Mellon, 2019, RHP/OF, Spring-Ford HS (PA)
6-foot, 170-pound primary pitcher sat 73-77 from a high 3/4 arm slot. Long take away with a hook in the back to his delivery. Curveball showed 11/5 rotation at 62-64 and changeup sat 65-70 at near fastball arm speed. Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a leg-hang stride to begin. Displayed a line drive approach with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Ran an 8.28 60-yard dash and showcased accurate 74 mph arm strength from the outfield.
