Conference Preview: District 6 Class AAAA

With the start of the high school season less than a month away we will be previewing conferences around the state leading up to opening day. In addition to a look at the top teams we will also highlight some of the top prospects in each conference.

                 district 6 Class AAAA

Preseason Favorite

State College (17-7) 

The Little Lions come off of an inconsistent 2013 season that ended with a 12-1 loss to Lower Dauphin the eventual Class AAA State Champions in the Western PA semifinals. State College graduated five seniors that were every day starters, but return enough talent offensively along with an ace in LHP Nick Raquet to make them the clear favorite in District 6 again this year.

Central Mountain (11-11)

A talented junior class may still be a year away, but will have plenty of opportunities to show they are up to the task of replacing roughly 2/3 of the 2013 offense that departed with seven seniors.

Nick Raquet, State College (Class of 2014)

Raquet is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound LHP that sits in the upper 80s. The North Carolina recruit went 5-2 with a 1.54 ERA in 50 innings of work as a junior. Raquet struck out 66 and yielded just 32 hits in 2013. The lefty is No. 8 in PA and No. 51 in the PBR combined Class of 2014 rankings.
