Class of 2023 Inside the Rankings: Top Dogs

Each week leading up to the new year, we will be rolling out “Inside the Rankings” articles to further highlight the movement around the ‘23 class in NY and PA. This week’s focus shifts the scope to “Top Dogs,” the highest ranked uncommitted player in each state.

2023 RHP/3B kayden faulcon (pennsbury)

The Spin: Sturdy and dynamic in an athletic 6-foot, 185lb frame, Faulcon feels poised for a big 2022 off the heels of a loud summer circuit for 5-Star Adrenaline. The righty made pop-up appearances all over the map, firing a few dominant innings at Lakepoint in front of our PBR Georgia crew, running the FB up to 89 mph. A rhythm thrower with lots of pace in the delivery, the righty discovered a newfound ability to attack the zone, filling it up early and going to a sharp 68-71 mph CB at 2420rpms as the putaway pitch. With longer arm-action and a lower 5.5 foot release height, Faulcon routinely challenges hitters on similar planes; up with the FB and back down with the breaker (depth).  If durability continues to increase, this has all the makings of a front-line starter at the next level, as the stuff has always been swing/miss regardless of competition.

The Performance: 6/15/21, PA State Games | Struck out the first six batters faced, five going down swinging. Sat 85-89 mph in the first couple frames before settling down into the 82-85 range in his last inning of work. Lots of uncomfortable at-bats against and one of the more dominant performances of the entire PA State Games.
