Catching Up With Team Pennsylvania

One inning that included two defensive miscues was all that prevented Team Pennsylvania from exiting Grand Park in Indianapolis, IN with a perfect 3-0 record in early August. Seven Pennsylvania pitchers combined to keep Team Ohio, Team Michigan and Team Ontario scoreless in the remaining 20 innings played over two days. Most importantly, the 15 members of Team Pennsylvania had an opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of over 150 college coaches representing every major Division I conference in the country.
The PBR Future Games have been offering rising juniors and sophomores an opportunity to gain valuable exposure on the national stage for the past six years and Team Pennsylvania has been been a participant since year two. Members of the initial roster that represented the Keystone State in 2012 are now college juniors and several are likely draft picks in the June 2017 MLB amateur draft.
It's too soon to say how many members of the 2016 roster will go on to be drafted, but what can be said is this roster had the greatest team success among the five Future Games events involving a Pennsylvania team to date. Further support for the level of talent that dotted the 2016 roster are the 10 Division I commitments that have been announced by members of the roster in the past three months.
The 2017 Future Games will take place again at Grand Park on August 3-5. Roster invitations will begin to go out following a pair of winter events in Pennsylvania. The PA Underclass Games and the Preseason All-State Showcase offer players in the Class of 2019 and 2020 an opportunity to make a case for their inclusion on the Team PA roster. A total of nine of the 15 players on the 2016 roster received an invitation to participate following their participating in a winter PBR event.
