PA Underclass Games Analysis: Grey Team

The PA Underclass Games were held at Consol Energy Park in Washington, PA on September 22 and 23. Today we take a look at the prospects who participated as members of the Grey Team.
Aaron Ovelman, SS/RHP, Class of 2015, Millville HS
Ovelman is returning from an injury to his throwing arm that had limited him to just playing offense. He was able to play shortstop at the event,but it was his feet and bat that were most impressive. He ran an event best 6.87 60-yard dash and displayed a bat exit speed of 79mph. Ovelman went 3-for-6 in game play and ran wild on the bases. With additional work defensively and added arm strength, Ovelman could be a player to watch in this class.
Tanner Teconchuk, 2B/RHP, Class of 2014, Warren HS
During the showcase portion of the event Teconchuk ran a 7.78 60-yard dash, showed solid actions in the middle infield with throws of 73mph and displayed a bat exit speed of 71mph. In game play, he shined in three innings of work on the mound. The 5-foot-7, 140-pound junior did not light up the radar gun at 75mph, but he mixed in an effective 67mph changeup, threw strikes and got outs.
Austin Schwanke, OF, Class of 2014, Warren HS
Schwanke showed polished defensive skills in the outfield with good routes to the baseball and the ability to cover a lot of ground. He showed good carry to all bases on throws of 73mph from his position. Schwanke also showcased a solid 78mph bat exit speed.
Jake Kleindl, C/1B, Class of 2014, Shady Side Academy
Kleindl showcased the ability to play two positions well. Behind the plate he showed 2.12-2.18 pop times on throws of 74mph from the crouch. At first base he showed an advanced ability to pick the baseball and a solid arm of 75mph across the infield. Offensively, Kleindl is impressive. His 88mph bat exit speed was one of the tops at the event. Kleindl displayed his bat speed when he hit a ball to the left field wall with a wood bat that shattered in half on contact.
Corey Kriner, OF, Class of 2014, Montgomery
Kriner is a 6-foot-2, 160-pound OF with an athletic frame who ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. He showed solid actions in the outfield and had good carry on throws of 74mph from his position. Kriner had a solid game at the plate on Sunday, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Nathan Neiderhiser, OF/LHP, Class of 2014, Bishop McCort
Neiderhiser is an athletic prospect with a big upside. He was solid in all facets of the game during the event. Neiderhiser ran a 7.25 60-yard dash, had an 86mph bat exit speed and had good life to throws of 80mph from the outfield. Neiderhiser worked three solid innings on the mound topping at 82mph on a fastball that has good armside run. He also commanded a 70mph changeup and 67 mph curveball. Neiderhiser has extremely good hands at the plate, staying inside the baseball and uses all fields very well. His potential as a hitter sticks out.
J.J. Bleday, LHP/OF, Class of 2016, Titusville
Bleday is a 6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect with a lot of potential. One of only three freshmen at the event, his 85mph throws from the outfield were an event best. His 89mph bat exit speed was also among the best of the weekend. Bleday shows great promise on the mound. His fastball topped at 82mph out of a fluid delivery with much more in the tank. His 71mph changeup is thrown at near fastball arm speed. His 71mph curveball has the makings of a plus pitch. Bleday is one of the top prospects in the Class of 2016 and should continue to get better.
Vinny Ruberto, 2B/3B, Class of 2015, Howland (OH)
Ruberto is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect with sound defensive mechanics. Offensively he used an 84mph bat exit speed and a short, compact swing path to spray line drives to all fields during a solid round of batting practice.
Jamie Switalski, 3B/RHP, Class of 2014, Pine Richland
Switalski, a member of Team Pennsylvania at the Under Armour Midwest Future Games in August, displayed his all-around skills at the event. He ran a 7.38 60-yard dash, had an impressive 88mph bat exit speed and showed a strong arm across the infield at 78mph. On the mound the 5-11, 190-pound junior topped out at 84mph with a solid 69mph curveball and a 72mph changeup. Switalski had one of the top rounds of batting practice, repeatedly driving baseballs to the wall.
Kole Aumiller, C, Class of 2014, Cumberland Valley
Aumiller had a very solid round of batting practice. He utlized an 84mph bat exit speed to consistently square up baseballs. His double to the left field wall in the Grey team's first game got his team rolling and led to a two run inning. Aumiller showcased pop times of 2.25-2.32 on throws of 72mph from the crouch.
Brian Keller, RHP/1B, Class of 2014, Eastlake North (OH)
Keller has a projectable power pitcher's frame at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. He displayed a fastball that topped out at 79mph with good arm side run out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Keller also commanded a 67mph curveball and a 70mph changeup during his four innings on the mound. Offensively Keller showed a solid 79mph bat exit speed. He squared the baseball consistently during his round of batting practice, and showed signs of some gap power ability.
