2021 Overall Rankings Updated
November 23, 2020
The fall season was as close to normal as one could expect in the year that is 2020, with tournaments taking place every weekend and teams seemingly traveling more than they did in the summer. With shorter days and players shifting their focus to indoor workouts and offseason gains, the 2021 Overall Rankings have been updated to reflect the last couple months.
The top remains largely intact with only some minor shuffling in the top 10. SS Jordan Lawlar (Dallas Jesuit Prep, TX) and OF Tyree Reed (American Canyon HS, CA) holding onto the top two spots, while LHP Josh Hartle (Reagan HS, NC) slides up to No. 3, making him the top arm in the country currently.
A notable change in the top 10 is the removal of Christian Little (Christian Brothers College HS, MO), who graduated a year early and will enroll at Vanderbilt in January. You can hear him talk about that decision on The Rode Show Podcast. With Little out, SS Kahlil Watson (Wake Forest HS, NC) moves up to No. 10.
One of the biggest risers in this update is OF Lonnie White Jr. (Malvern Prep, PA). Long known as a premium athlete, he hit some bumps in his development the last couple years, but he was clearly one of the steadiest and most improved players over the summer and fall. Also a wide receiver recruit for Penn State, he easily passes the eye test with his physical 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame. His bat has middle-of-the-order potential, but he also features speed that gives him a chance to stick in center field. He is balanced in the box with a good approach and rarely looked overmatched this year.
Also making a big jump is RHP Joshua Stewart (St. Dominic Savio Catholic HS, TX), who came out pumping fastballs up to 95 at the Wilson Premier Classic and settled in at 90-93, turning in a strong outing against a loaded Canes National team.
The addition of PBR Utah also brings some new names to the list, starting with RHP Janzen Keisel (Gunnison Valley HS, UT), a 6-foot-3, 180-pound Brigham Young recruit. He’s coming back from Tommy John surgery, but the fastball has been sitting 90-94 recently with riding life and he spins a curveball with solid shape and tight, biting action.
