Today's article on the top newcomers to our soon-to-be updated 2019 rankings is the first installment of a preview for the entire list being released at the end of the week. Other articles will feature big risers as well as a sneak preview of the first ten prospects on the list. Where these five newcomers fall among the 30 prospects in the updated Class of 2019 rankings will be released on Saturday.

Harriton right-handed pitcher Jack Kochanowicz has an extremely projectable 6-foot-6, 195-pound frame with plenty of room to add fill out through physical maturity. The lanky Virginia commit currently sits in the mid-80s with a mid-70s curveball that shows late, short 11/5 break.

DuBois Central Catholic catcher Justin Miknis impressed as a freshman helping the Cardinals earn a District 9 Class A title in 2016. The left-handed hitter drove in 11 runs out of the lead-off spot, scored 20 runs and hit .394. Following a solid fall playing with the Allegheny Pirates Miknis announced his commitment to Kent State.

Forest Hills third baseman Adam Cecere has a physical frame that give the appearance of a college freshman at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds. The left-handed hitter shows advance barrel whip with some natural lift to his swing and present power.

Bobby WhalenCentral Dauphin outfielder Troy Schreffler was a 1st Team All-League selection as freshman in 2016. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Maryland commit has shown a solid two-way skill set also sitting in the mid-80s off the bump.

Cedar Cliff outfielder Bobby Whalen (right), a two-sport starter as a freshman, also excels on the football field. The Louisville commit has some length to his swing, but his hands work well through contact, and the right-handed hitter showed the ability to handle advanced velocity in his first campaign at the high school level.
