2019 Elite Prospect Showcase Spotlight: 2020 LHP Eric Gustofson

The Elite Prospect Showcase annually showcases many of the top uncommitted prospects across the state and from a few surrounding states. 2019 marks the 7th year for this event with more than 200 former participants having gone on to college commitments and a handful to professional baseball.

As we draw closer to the end of October we will be periodically highlighting some of the prospects scheduled to participate. Today we continue our preview with a look at 2020 LHP Eric Gustofson.

Scouting Report

2.16.19 - 5-foot-11, 182-pounder sat 81-84 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a wrap in the back and a quick arm. Showcased a feel for the zone with arm-side run to his fastball. Curveball showed 1/7 rotation with average depth at 69-72. Changeup sat 75-77 at fastball arm speed with arm-side run from a slightly different arm slot. Athletic frame has room to continue adding strength. Additional velocity spikes are likely.

7.10.18 - 5-foot-11, 170-pound lefty sat 80-82 with both a four-seam and two-seam fastball. Repeats delivery with balance throughout and showed command of a three pitch mix. Curveball sat 67-68 with 1/7 rotation and occasional two-plane break. Slider is flat through the zone at 74-76. Additional velocity is likely as Gustofson adds strength to his athletic frame. Definite follow in this class.
