Of the 100 prospects to showcase their abilities over two days of the 2017 Preseason All-State Showcase 16 participated as corner infielders. Today we continue our analysis of the prospects in attendance by taking a look at the corner infielders in the Class of 2018, a group that may have been the most impressive class of position players in attendance over two days from top to bottom.

Top Prospects

Dillon Marsh, 1B, Lancaster Catholic
6-foot-2, 215-pound Kentucky commit. Two-way prospect continues to show the skill set that will likely afford him opportunity to get on the diamond as a two-way guy at the next level. Left-handed hitter set an event record with a 101 mph bat exit velocity. Starts from a square stance and uses a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Clears lower half well allowing hands to work freely through the zone creating above average back spin. Ran a 7.18 60-yard dash and makes all the plays defensively at first base while throwing from multiple arm angles in rhythm. Showcased 90 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Justin Williams, 3B, Cumberland Valley
6-foot-2, 200-pound Penn State commit looks the part in a uniform. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a controlled, leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Long through the zone with an aggressive hip turn. Ball jumps off his bat with a bat exit velocity of 99 mph. Ran a 7.45 60-yard dash and showed above average glove skills around the bag at third base. Displayed active feet and the ability to make plays from multiple arm angles with 87 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Justin Byler, 1B/RHP, Warwick
6-foot-4, 185-pound two-way prospect. Left-handed hitter starts from a wide, slightly crouched stance and initiates his swing with a short, leg-lift stride from a high hands load. Slightly uphill path through the zone allows for some back spin with current gap-to-gap power and a bat exit velocity of 90 mph. Feet work well around the bag at first base and showed confidence in glove hand with accurate 80 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Hunter Hall, 3B, Oxford Area
6-foot-2, 215-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance an initiates his swing with a controlled, leg-lift stride. Short through the zone with a late bat waggle that causes him at times to rush to get to the hitting zone. Creates a great deal of back spin with present power to the pull side and a bat exit velocity of 99 mph. Clean, athletic actions at third base with 80 mph arm strength across the diamond. Displayed the ability to play the ball on the move making throws from multiple arm angles. Makes the slow roller play look routine.

Matt Hayes, 1B, Lakeland
Physical 6-foot-3, 220-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a deep load and initiates swing with a controlled, leg-lift stride. Above average strength and an aggressive hip turn allow for considerable back spin and a bat exit velocity of 97 mph. Present power that will translate to the next level with simple, repeatable approach at the plate. Moves well around the bag for a player his size and ran a 7.40 60-yard dash. Showcased accurate 72 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Dylan Kingan, RHP/1B, Eden Christian
Long, lanky 6-foot-4, 185-pound primary pitcher. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly wider than shoulder width, square stance and initiates his swing with a short, lift-and-replace stride. Arm bar leads to length in the swing and difficulties handling balls on the inner half. Barreled balls to the middle of the diamond without full incorporation of the lower half with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Ran a 7.87 60-yard dash and displayed capable defensive actions around the bag at first base with 68 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Jared Marshman, RHP/1B, Berwick Area
6-foot-1, 220-pound primary pitcher will have opportunities to swing the bat at the next level. Left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a heel-raise stride. Hands work well through the zone with balance throughout leading to a bat exit velocity of 89 mph with some backspin. Ran a 7.68 60-yard dash and showcased capable defensive actions around the bag at first base with accurate 71 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Ryan Miller, RHP/3B, Fleetwood Area
6-foot-2, 205-pound primary pitcher continues to make strides as a positional player. Physical right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and uses a small, lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing with a rotational hip turn. Creates an 88 mph bat exit velocity largely with stiff upper body strength. Deep load leads to arm bar and length in swing. Ran a 7.55 60-yard dash and bounced around the field defensively with a confidence in his glove hand and above average carry on throws of 89 mph across the diamond.

Justin Wright, 3B, Hempfield Area
6-foot-2, 185-pound St. John's commit continues to add to his already mature, athletic frame. Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a short lift-and-replace stride. Showed balanced, fluid swing with ability to impart backspin and a bat exit velocity of 92 mph. Ran a 7.19 60-yard dash and flashed a soft glove hand, active feet and the ability to play through the baseball defensively with accurate 82 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Luke Zimmerman, 1B/LHP, Marple Newtown
6-foot, 205-pound two-way prospect put together a solid across the board showing. The left-handed hitter continued to impress with quick hands and an above average feel for the barrel. He starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a controlled leg-lift stride. Solid balance throughout swing with ability to drive both gaps. Registered a 91 mph bat exit velocity and showed the ability to impart backspin. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash and showcased a soft glove hand, active feet and a quick release defensively with accurate 79 mph arm strength across the diamond.
