Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes play at the next level. 

Rankings are based on evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events.

OREGON 2027 RANKINGS 
'27 SS/RHP Manny Ehinger (Lakeridge) is the #1 player in the class

Uber talented ‘27 SS/RHP Manny Ehinger (Lakeridge) begins at the #1 spot in the 2027 class. The Oregon commit has an impressive combination of physical tools to go with baseball acumen and potential. Established himself as a national-level prospect thanks in large part to his athleticism and feel for the game, while ripping exit velocities in the low-90s and generating bat speed up to 73.6 mph. Offensively has the chance to be a middle of the order bat and produce exceptional power. Additionally, Ehinger put together a standout performance at shortstop with clean actions and an 80 mph arm across the diamond. He also has the chance to develop on the mound as he was already up to 84 mph last year and he shows every indication of making future gains. High-level talent

#2 - ‘27 SS/RHP JT Girod (Central) - One of the more physically advanced prospects in the class. Girod excels thanks in part to his offensive output and overall strength in the box. He impacts the ball with authority and is capable of spraying hard contact to all fields with a quick, compact strong. Athletically he handles SS with quick actions and quality arms strength but it’s easy to envision him handling multiple defensive assignments on the diamond as he continues to develop. The arm talent translates to the mound and he is an exceptional 2-way prospect as well. 

#3 - ‘27 C/RHP Joe Mendazona Jr (Central) - Mendazona has a terrific profile at a young age as a left-handed hitting backstop with a highly projectable frame. At 6’1, 170 lbs, he hits with great leverage and creates consistent loft in his swing. The frame can handle more weight and it’s easy to envision more power as he continues to mature. Defensively he’s very sound at C with the chance to catch and throw at a high level. The arm works just as well on the bump with reports he’s been into the mid 80s already. 

#4 - ‘27 SS/RHP Myles Cox (Willamette) - Cox is another athlete on the list who possesses the ability to impact the game at a high level as a 2-way prospect. A smooth fielding athlete at 5’10, 165, he controls his actions through the play and has a fluid exchange into his throwing motion. At the plate, produces gap to gap power with a line drive type approach. On the mound, it’s a loose, easy arm path that controls the baseball to all parts of the zone and commands multiple offerings. 

#5 - ‘27 INF Amari Reynolds (Sam Barlow) - Reynolds has some of the best pure feel for hitting in the class with his ability to control the barrel as a switch hitter. Keeps a simplified approach from both sides of the plate with terrific bat-to-ball skills and pitch recognition. The quiet set-up and easy operation in the swing gives him the ability to adjust to the ball late. Defensively shows quick, active feet for the INF with a quick exchange into throwing motion. 

#6 - ‘27 LHP/1B Kye Leenders (Sherwood) - Physically built athlete at 6’1, 170 lbs. The multi-sport prospect has a strong profile with his L/L ability and is another 2-way prospect to keep an eye on. Profiles to a corner spot as a position player and carries exciting upside in the left-handed bat. Has the chance to make jumps quickly on the diamond as he gains more seasoning/experience. 

#7 - '27 RHP/3B Jack Brauckmiller (Canby) - At 6’5, 185 lbs, Brauckmiller is arguably the most imposing physical presence in the class at the moment. For his size, he moves great and has consistent body control on the diamond. Powerful runner who can really move once he gets underway. Offensively he’s a high ceiling prospect with his combination of size, power and bat speed. On the mound he competes with a 3 pitch mix and drives the ball downhill from a high ¾ slot. Was up to 80 mph this summer and it’s very easy to envision more gains as a RHP in the near future. 

#8 - '27 C/OF Aiden Hibler (North Eugene) - A twitchy athlete with some defensive versatility and projectable actions. Hibler can really run and his athleticism works both behind the plate and in the OF. Lean, wiry strength in the frame presently with a chance to add more size as he matures. Offensively he moves the barrel easily with strong, quick hands and a sturdy base. Gap to gap power threat with more juice when he gets aggressive to his pull-side. 

#9 - '27 SS Diego Lopez (Ridgeview) -  Slick fielding INF prospect who has shown the ability to produce against quality pitching in-game. Lopez can float around the INF and handle multiple spots with mechanically sound actions and feel for the speed of the play. Offensively he possesses a contact approach to spray line drives to all fields and routinely gets the barrel on-time to the ball.  

#10 - '27 SS Collin Fierro (Newport) - Wiry strong, twitchy athlete at 5’9, 155 lbs. Fierro can really accelerate quickly and shows great burst as a runner and defender. Already posted a 6.93 this past summer with exceptional splits at 10 & 30 yards. There’s a lot of athleticism to tap into. Offensively he has loose, quick wrists and a simple approach in the box that allows the barrel to work freely. Handles SS with smooth, easy footwork and can play fast while staying low through the play.
