Uncommitted Spotlight - '23 Blake Sehorn (Glencoe)
July 12, 2021
One of the top remaining uncommitted prospects in Oregon for the 2023 class. Blake Sehorn (Glencoe) showed promise back at his first event in 2019 with an athletic frame and fluid baseball actions. Since then his frame has continued to add strength while not compromising any of his natural movement.
Continues to make progress on each look that we get and should be poised to have a highly productive summer leading into his junior season of HS ball.

Scouting Report
5-foot-10, 165 pounds with added mass but still some room for projection/growth. Has always shown feel for the barrel at the plate & continue to display consistent, repeatable actions in the box. Starts with weight centered from a slightly open set-up. Low, controlled forward stride to close off direction and land in a balanced hitting position. Hands start relaxed below rear shoulder with short, subtle down and back load. Creates easy bat speed with minimal effort. Hands work through the zone uninterrupted. Slight uphill path into contact. Gap to gap type power presently. Gets extension after contact and stays thru the baseball. Defensively, continues to be a quiet receiver with a soft glove hand. Worked from a one-knee-down set-up. Solid mobility in lower half allows him to sink hips below the ball while keeping an upright torso. Does a great job staying low to receive the ball completely before coming out of his crouch and into throwing motion. Easy exchange/transition. Tight, short arm action with high ¾ release. Backside comes through on the finish. Has always displayed accuracy and carry to the bag.
Wiry, projectable athlete with clean actions & body control in everything he does. Simple, relaxed stance with feet square to pitcher and slight bend in posture. Front foot stays low as he loads weight into back hip and begins forward stride. Hands stay at back shoulder & allow hips to open up before working to the ball. Quick, aggressive swing with high 2-handed finish. Defensively, advanced receiver with strong catch & throw skills behind the plate. Gets out of stance quickly and into exchange with no wasted movement. Stays behind the ball with loose arm & consistently put throws on the bag. Also showcased at SS and has the ability to stick on the INF long-term as well. Light, active feet Hips sink as he funnels ball in with slight hinge to keep chest/head over the ball. High exchange into throwing motion. Arm action stays short, bent. Gets momentum behind throws from high ¾ release.
