Under The Radar 2021's To Follow
As we get closer and closer to our first Showcases of the 2019 schedule, we take a look at the 2021 class and some of the players that may have “flew under the radar” last year, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the players come out the gates early in 2019 and grab people’s attention.
Cole Munro SS / 2B / Ecole secondaire l'Essor, ON / 2021Rankings StateRank: 71 / POS: 15
Report: Munro, a 2021 shortstop, is a bat first infielder, with a nice looking lefty swing. The 5-foot-6, 130-pound Munro has a wide base with his hands held up high, before taking a big stride forward and letting it loose. It's a flat plane towards the ball, but he gets it in the air as he gets the barrel out front. There is present bat speed, loose hands with room to gain strength throughout. Adjustments to the length of his stride will be needed in order to keep his head in the same slot and gain body control. The actions in the infield are raw, he gets flat-footed at times and will benefit from being less robotic and more free towards the baseball. This will allow him to minimize the time between fielding and getting a throw off. Munro’s arm speed from short suggests gains in velocity across the diamond in years to come. |
