Under The Radar 2020's To Follow
As we get closer and closer to our first Showcases of the 2019 schedule, we take a look at the 2020 class and some of the players that may have “flew under the radar” last year, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the players come out the gates early in 2019 and grab people’s attention.
All are uncommitted and names you need to keep on your follow list as college recruiters.
Tyler Wilson C / 1B / Ancaster, ON / 2020Rankings StateRank: 77 / POS: 11
Report: Wilson, a right-handed hitting catcher out of the Fieldhouse Pirates organization is an uncommitted bat to follow. It’s a physical 6-foot-1, 205-pound frame with strength that translates to raw power at the plate. He starts with his hands held high, loads with a medium-size leg kick and is able to rotate while using his lower half effectively. His hands work freely with some bat speed with a smooth slightly upward swing through the zone. He shows the ability to use the whole field, getting the ball in the air, making good use out of his stronger abilities. Behind the plate, he’s hovering just below 70 mph on throws across the diamond when last seen, he’d benefit from getting downhill and out front when releasing. His footwork is clean, allowing him to record pop times in the 2.18-2.25 range, added quickness will be key to his development behind the plate. |
