Uncommitted Senior Spotlight: Ben Jones
Ben Jones SS / 2B / Sinclair, ON / 2018Rankings StateRank: 32 / POS: 7
Team: Toronto Mets PBR Events Attended: The Fall Finale, Toronto Elite Prospect Showcase Background: Jones possesses solid actions across the board and has shown the ability to play the outfield in addition to his natural position of shortstop. At the plate, he is able to generate bat speed from a quiet, athletic stance while remaining very balanced. It is a good bat path with fluid hands and consistent load. Very sound swing mechanics without a lot of swing and miss. Jones displays solid glove actions on the dirt with good side-to-side movement. He gets to balls effectively with little wasted movement and has a quick transfer. Arm strength is evident and most throws are on target. Actions worked well in the outfield as well as Jones showed good ability to track balls and get good reads at Rogers Centre during Tournament 12. There is enough arm strength to make all the throws from the outfield as well. Solid on the base paths with a 60 time of 7.12 that can shave a few ticks as he adds strength. 2018 Outlook: |
