Scouting Notes: CPBL Pro Day Workout - 2/21/18
Brandon Deans RHP / OF / Our Lady of Mount Carmel, ON / 2019Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 3
Report: Deans showed well at the CPBL pro day, displaying a calmer windup with a consistent release point. He controls a longer arm action well and was able to produce a repeatable delivery with a slight pause that throws off timing. He has added some strength since last year and his frame will be able to handle more especially in the lower half. Gearing up, he hit 89 miles per hour with some natural movement from a high ¾ angle. He was able to command the fastball and hit the zone consistently. He flashed a handful of effective curveballs with tight spin and 11/5 bite. Off speed has developed over the last year and should turn into a swing and miss pitch. He is no longer relying strictly on arm strength and is developing a good feel on the mound. Brandon Deans came fast in 2017 and with room to develop, 2018 should be another year of gains. |
