ETOBICOKE- The Great Lakes Canadians and Etobicoke Rangers squared off in a Sunday morning match-up on Mother’s Day at Connorvale Park. The Canadians swept the doubleheader 12-6 and 6-1.
In game one, after the Canadians opened up the scoring in the top of the 1st, the Rangers got their bats fired up and showed patience at the plate in the second.
After back-to-back walks and a pair of stolen bases from Ben McKeon and Sean Walmsley, Nathan Zimmerman tied the game at one thanks to a sacrifice fly to centre field.
A few batters later, Kyle Maves went with a fastball and drove it through the hole at short that drove in a run and Ryan O’Halloran added another run off his RBI double to right field for a 4-1 Rangers lead after the 2nd.
The Canadians stormed back in their half of the 3rd scoring four times including a two-run double to the right-centerfield gap by 2017 grad Jamie Beamish. He had a very good game at the plate in the first game going 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs.
In the Canadians 5th, Klan Bukala drove a leadoff triple to the gap in left-centerfield, followed by Beamish’s second hit of the game and an RBI triple by Thomas Henderson that put game one out of reach for the Rangers.
