PBR Ontario Spotlight Game: Toronto Mets vs Team Ontario - Doubleheader
Game 1
Aurora - In weather that is not typically suited for baseball in May, even by Ontario standards, the Toronto Mets and Team Ontario beared the cold and the wind to get in a doubleheader on Saturday May 14th.
Both starters Nick Virdo and Alex MacKinnon threw the ball well for their teams, with both right-handers going deep into the game. Virdo, the Midland commit went into the sixth inning, using his fastball for 95% of his repertoire on the day before giving way to 2017 two-way player Devon Robb who came in to get the final five outs of the game.
MacKinnon battled all day and was on the wrong end of some defensive mishaps in the field. MacKinnon worked his way into the fifth before giving way to the bullpen.
The Mets took an early lead before Team Ontario came back with a four spot in the third to go up 4-2. Uncommitted middle infielder Reilly Walters singled and scored, while the speedy Nicholas Hamill also came around to score after he reached on single as well.
That lasted until the Mets put up a two spot in the fourth to tie the game and then broke it open with four runs in the fifth. Big at-bats by 2017 infielder Keegan Warner and 2017 outfielder Marcus Pronay were key moments in the game.
First baseman and Cuyahoga commit Matt Hilderbrandt put the finishing touches on a win with a homerun down the right field line on a hanging breaking ball in the bottom of the 6th to add some insurance.

Game 2
Game two saw the same type of format of game one with the Mets getting on the board early in the first thanks to back to back singles by CJ Yoannou and Yerzy, followed by a sacrifice fly by Hilderbrandt.
Team Ontario answered immediately in the top of the second with a leadoff double by Dudhnath, a hit batter then a two-out double by Braedon Wodehouse to put them up 3-1.
That was all Team Ontario would muster as Mets starter and Northwood commit Peter Joseph and lefty Dj Depiero would continue to put up zeros the rest of the way.
Hilderbrandt continued to show off his power as he hit a two run blast in the third to deep right centre that was a no doubter off the bat. The Mets took advantage of some costly errors on their way to putting up 11 runs on eight hits.
Joseph went five innings, allowing three runs, two earned on five hits while striking out four. Yoannou was a homer away from hitting for the cycle and scoring three runs while driving in three as well.
