PBR Ontario Spotlight Game: Etobicoke Rangers 15u vs North York Blues
NORTH YORK- In a Friday night thriller, the Etobicoke Rangers and North York Blues battled to a 4-4 score in the 15u EBLO division, a game that concluded in a tie following the tenth inning.
Both sides had many impressive young players, but this ballgame was a story of missed opportunities as through 10 innings the two teams combined to leave 17 runners on base.
The pitchers on both sides struggled at times getting themselves into jams, but for the most part were able to get themselves out of trouble, keeping the score tied.
There were two players on the night who definitely stood out. For the Etobicoke Rangers, it was the smooth-fielding and athletic shortstop, Robert Calisti, who finished the game going 3-for-4 displaying a very quick swing, speed on the base path, as well as opposite field power.
For the Blues, Tom Edwards Gireau impressed, going 2-for-3 with a walk. The 2019 grad has a strong lower half, a lot of moving parts to his swing, and with his power and quick bat, is able to hit for power and average, as he stayed up the middle of the diamond for extra base to straight away centre.
After the Blues went ahead 4-2 in the third inning, the Rangers were able to get back into the game in the sixth inning, sparked by the solid defensive work of Justin Teichman behind the plate and keeping potential runs off the board.
