Ontario Insider: Top Underclass Uncommitted Sleeper Prospects
With the Summer season coming to an end and the 2016-2017 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, we would like to take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects at each position. Over the past month we looked at the top 2017 prospects and as you can see by our 2017 Player Rankings there are numerous talented prospects available.
Today we are starting with the top uncommitted underclass sleeper prospects in Ontario. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week and as you can see by our 2018 and 2019 Player Rankings, there are numerous talented prospects available.
Dylan Johnson, C, St. Michael’s College, 2018
Ranked: 31st in Ontario’s Class of 2018
Club Team: Ontario Terriers
Scouting Report: Johnson is a 5-foot-10, 140-pound catcher with room to add size to frame and develop physically. Keeps simple approach at the plate, quiet actions in hands with up and down leg kick. Defensively, Johnson moves well and is agile in lower half. Receives with soft hands and arm has strength and carry, which continues to get better with what we believe is more to come. The feet work and transfers are clean.
College Outlook: As Johnson adds size and strength, his defensive ability will be very intriguing for coaches. The bat should play more as he matures physically, good foundation all around and will see what Johnson does this winter in preparation for a big 2017 campaign.
