Top Uncommitted 2016 Power Potential Prospects
Ryan Rijo, 1B, St. Joseph’s Catholic
Ranking: 11th in Ontario’s Class of 2016
Scouting Report: The 6-foot-2, 245-pound power hitting prospect from the left side may possibly have the most power in the province. Rijo takes aggressive hacks in the box, displaying strong bat speed and generating power through the zone. He gets the ball in the air with good extension, and still shows the ability to use the whole field. Has done a lot better job recently with his body, adding strength to his frame. The first baseman has middle of the order power and chance to be a run producer.
Power Potential: Rijo is known to put on a show in batting practice, and this September at T12 he did so, as well as in game as he was able to go deep into the bullpen in right-field. He has produced all 2015 and his power plays in all parks.
