Malcolm Shirley OF / NA, ON / 2021

Report: 2021 Malcolm Shirley is a toolsy, 5-foot-8, 150-pound centre fielder who stood out both at the plate and on the basepaths Sunday. It’s a short, compact swing from the left-side which allows him to spread the ball from gap to gap, showing that on Sunday with a double to the left-centre. Shirley was selective, yet aggressive at the plate working two full-count walks and swiping several bases throughout the game. Game plays on both sides of the ball and Shirley is another exciting uncommitted from the class of 2021.

Lachlan Harrison LHP / OF / Loyola Catholic Secondary, ON / 2023

Report: Lachlan Harrison is one of the more exciting 2024’s we’ve seen in the province to date, an uber projectable 6-foot-1, 155-pound left-hander. The mechanics are clean, it’s an effortless delivery and there’s a ton of pitchability. Is able to repeat his delivery which allowed him to pound the strike zone in Sunday’s performance and the velocity should continue to jump going forward. The curveball shows potential but the offspeed stuff is a work in progress for the young lefty. 

Nelson Mercado RHP / 3B / St. Augustine, ON / 2021

Report: 2021 Connors State commit, the right-handed Mercado comes with a big frame at 6-foot-2, 220-pounds and he worked two innings on Sunday for the 18U squad. Fastball topped out at 89 but sat 85-88. He was effective with the fastball when he was able to keep down in the zone and the right-hander was getting some swing and miss on the pitch, especially when working inside on hitters. One of the stronger prospects in the class of 2021 and some development on the secondary stuff will be big for Mercado as he heads into his draft year. 

Julian Parson RHP / Loyola Catholic, ON / 2021

Report: Parson is an exciting uncommitted arm from the class of 2021 and the 6-foot-0, 170-pound right-hander impressed in his outing on Sunday. The fastball had late life at 84-86, topping out at 87, also showing feel for all three pitches. Worked mostly with his fastball and curveball which complemented each other well and he was spinning the curveball well. The arm arm works and is long in the back, also using his lower half well to generate power. Parson will be an intriguing follow as he heads into his senior year.

Dylan Shepherd C / 3B / St. Joseph Catholic, ON / 2022

Report: It was hard not to notice Dylan Shepherd on this day, a 5-foot-9, 200-pound catcher from the class of 2022. A strong, burly frame from the left-handed hitting catcher and he put two doubles deep into the left-centre gap. There’s bat speed, some power potential and the swing plays to the middle of the field. Bat first type of catcher but he’s no slouch on the defensive side either with some arm strength and clean transfers. Shepherd is still uncommitted and may have been the loudest bat on this day at Dan Lang Field.
