Northern Games Quick Hits III

On Wednesday, June 8th our staff made the trip out to Sudbury to host another Northern Games from the beautiful Terry Fox Sports Complex. The Northern Games allows our staff a chance to get a look at players up North who may not have the chance to attend events in the GTA.
Not only did we get our eyes on those players but several others who made the trip as well. Our post-event coverage continues below as PBR Ontario Scout, Tillie Burlock, provides notes and video on three players that stood out to her.

Darcy Carter 1B / RHP / Keswick, ON / 2023Rankings StateRank: 70 / POS: 3
At 6-foot-6, 195-pounds, uncommitted 2023 Darcy Carter is hard to miss. The lanky RHP looks clean on the mound with a high release point that causes hitters trouble. Carter attacks hitters early with a heavy fastball that is consistently in the zone. He has athletic movements on the mound and is able to spin his breaking ball for strikes. As a hitter, his left-handed swing has come a long way since we last saw him. Carter hits from an upright stance, with a simple A to B swing. His bat stays through the zone and he catches the ball out front in both BP and live action. With a projectable frame that has yet to fill out, Carter has lots of room to grow and add more velo and power to his game. One to watch as he continues to develop.

Justin Dandeneau OF / LHP / Horizon , ON / 2025Rankings StateRank: 25 / POS: 3
Uncommitted 2025 Justin Dandeneau caught some attention during PBR Spring Training, hitting his way to an All-Tournament Team selection. The left-handed hitter attacks the ball and sprays it to all parts of the field. Dandeneau showed off a quick and compact swing, staying on plane and allowing him to consistently produce line drives. The bat stands out and will be interesting to watch as he continues to develop and mature.
