Jang Has Long List Of Impressive Credentials

“A big advantage for me is my arm strength and pop time,” explained the incoming senior at Abbey Park High School in Oakville, just southwest of Toronto. “I’ve improved those a lot. I hope it’s a statistic that sets me apart. From the academic side, I can bring an A-plus student to the university.”

With a 4.0 GPA, a catching velo of 84 and a pop time that has been as solid as 1.87, Jang certainly has impressive credentials that can make a difference at the next level.

“All my numbers have improved, especially my exit and arm speed,” the 22nd-rated 2021 in Canada said in reference to how he has bettered his game in the last year. “I’ve also been working on my catching mechanics and my 60 time. Since I joined Fieldhouse, I’ve been able to steal bases a lot more. The strategy of how to properly steal bases, the timing and the pattern of the pitcher are all important.”

Now it is a matter of finding a college fit.

“Before the quarantine I had a few phone calls,” the third-ranked catcher in Canada’s 2021 class said. “Western Illinois saw me at the Future Games and more recently I’ve had contact with Dartmouth. I went to one of their camps before the quarantine started.”

A strong performance at the Future Games is memorable for Jang.

“That was really a good experience,” the 5-11 174-pounder reflected. “There were a lot of great players there and that helped me elevate my game. Playing against some of the best players in North America, I was able to see where I’m at in comparison and set goals where I have to be at to get to the next level.”

Chris Kemlo, PBR Canada Director of Scouting, sees a big future for the third-ranked uncommitted non-pitcher in the 2021 class of the country.
