ontario insider: 2019 Arms That Look To Make Jump In 2018

As baseball activities to start to get closer and closer to resuming full on, and events and workouts become finalized for the province, we are already anticipating a big leap for many prospects this year as the buzz here in Ontario is something you can get a feel for early on in 2018.

The past few years have seen many seniors take big steps forward in their development, as well as the underclass guys who are always pushing to make a name for themselves and get on the radar for college coaches as soon as possible. Today we highlight five arms from the 2019 class who we can envision taking the next steps early on this spring. All five are uncommitted and should be names that coaches take notice of.

Evan Elliott RHP / SS / Michael Power St. Joseph, ON / 2019 Rankings  StateRank: 21 / POS: 5 Team: Ontario Terriers Report: Elliott is a big, strong right-hander that meets the eye test at 6-foot-3, 197-pounds and his body is still growing and maturing. The actions are clean on Elliott and he has shown the ability to hump up with velocity as he has topped out at 87 mph while showing he can spin his curveball with depth and downward action. He moves well on the mound with upside and projectability to harness his stuff while adding velocity as he develops. His ability to work downhill and get on top of hitters is something that makes him very intriguing as a prospect, along with the sturdy frame and room to add more size. One to watch early as the jump in numbers and stuff could be really big for the junior arm.
