2018 Ontario Youth Team - The Infielders
Baseball Ontario has announced the Ontario Youth Roster, which will represent the province at the Canada Cup taking place August 8th through 12th in Moncton, New Brunswick. The Canada Cup is a premier 17U tournament and features teams from each province competing for the national championship. Ontario’s roster was announced after the completion of the 40-man tryout this past week in Vaughan, which featured 40 players vying for one of the final 20 roster spots. Below is an in depth look at the infielders with notes from the tryouts and what could be when the Canada Cup kicks off.
Carter Arbuthnot 2B / SS / Maxwell Heights, ON / 2019Rankings StateRank: 68 / POS: 2
Report: Arbuthnot continues to make impressive strides in the field and at the plate. He moves well at short with good lateral quickness, flexibility and glove actions. He attacks balls well and had a quick transfer with most balls being on target. There is some arm strength with through the bag carry. Batting from the left side, he has a very compact stroke that gets on time very effectively. It’s a line drive approach with some bat speed that can hit the ball to all fields. Arbuthnot has sound fundamentals and does everything well. |
