Tulsa Fall ID: Quick Hits

Bret Schwartz
Prep Baseball Oklahoma Scouting Director

On Wednesday, October 9th, the Prep Baseball Oklahoma staff traveled to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK to host the Tulsa Fall ID. This event, which is in its 1st year, was an event open to 2025-2028 prospects with 30+ names in attendance.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 6+ names that popped to our staff from Wednesday's trip to Tulsa.

QUICK HITS

+ An exciting prospect in the 2027 class, RHP Mason Rainbolt (Checotah) had a standout showing on the mound. Listed at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds with plenty of room to add strength and size, Rainbolt showcased an exciting mix utilizing his athleticism. The sophomore ran his fastball up to 91 mph while sitting at 87-90 mph with an average of 2,100+ RPM of spin. His fastball also played with natural carry, averaging 16.3 inches of vertical break while maxing out at 18.5”. Rainbolt also spun a slider at 2,400+ RPM of spin and mixed in a changeup with arm side fade at 81 mph.

+ RHP Kohen Hudson-Leggett (Cascia Hall, 2025) came away from the event as a winner on the mound. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound senior filled up the zone with an impressive mix, commanding both sides of the plate. He ran his fastball up to 86.2 mph, consistently sitting between 84-85 mph with 2,100+ RPM of spin. Aside from his velocity, Hudson-Leggett’s fastball also played with ride through the zone showed at 19.1 IVB. He also mixed in a curveball and cutter to pitch off of his FB. The curveball was consistently 72-73 with a cutter at 79-82. He also added a low spin, fading changeup at 78-81 mph to round out his four-pitch mix.

+ INF Broedy Taron (Choctaw, 2026) came away as one of the biggest winners from the event. The 6-foot, 161-pound wirey Junior started the day by showing off his noticeable athleticism, posting an event leading 6.96 60 time. At the plate Taron showed a discipline gap to gap approach using the whole field, with 89.3 mph max exit velocity. Still, plenty more to come as he continues to add strength. The Choctaw native further displayed his athleticism on the infield, showcasing clean, advanced actions on the infield adding an 85 mph top mark across the diamond. Taron will definitely be a name to keep an eye on in the future.

+ INF Jake Lopez (Broken Arrow, 2027) impressed our staff, showing advanced all-around tools on both sides of the ball in his Prep Baseball debut at Oral Roberts. At 6-foot-4, 170-pounds, Lopez is packed with upside, showcasing his athleticism, posting the day’s second best Reactive Strength Index (which is a key insight into explosive strength derived by jump height divided by ground contact time). He swung a quick, loud barrel from the right side, reaching exit velocities upwards of 87 mph with long levers and ability to elevate pull-side. The sophomore shined defensively, reaching 86 mph across the infield with sure-handed, smooth actions.

+ Packed with strength and physicality in a 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame, C Brock Copass (Bixby, 2027) showed well on both sides of the ball in this event. Compass paced the event with a 2.0-2.1 pop time as well as 78 mph while using a quick transfer and strong arm. At the plate, the sophomore swung with intent, flashing extra-base-hit power with a strong, quick swing from the right side of the plate. He barreled his best ball at 90.8 mph, good for third best on the day.

+ RHP/OF Jasper Reid (Broken Arrow, 2028) continues to emerge as a young name-to-know two-way player in the state’s 2028 class, flashing tools across the board in this event. Reid consistently barreled balls throughout his round of BP, using a simple stroke from both sides of the plate to reach a max exit velocity of 86.1. Defensively, he showcased clean actions in the outfield, reaching 83 mph. Reid then wrapped up the day by hopping on the mound, pitching in the upper-70s, reaching 79 mph with his fastball, and showing advanced feel for a slider at 2340 RPMs.
