OSSAA Team Preview: Tuttle Tigers

Outlook:

Coach Draper’s Tigers put together one of the best seasons in recent memory to capture the 4A State Championship in a thriller against Blanchard in 2023.  Along the way, the Tigers threw 17 shutouts while eclipsing double digit runs themselves a total of 13 times.  This type of balance and completeness speaks to the depth of the program as multiple players stepped up throughout the season.  As with every program, Tuttle has a few holes to replace from graduation with the loss of Ashton Bennight, Carson Moore, and Alex Conover who are all now at Cowley County.  Even with those players finishing their careers, the Tigers still have a loaded roster with impact players that have had a ton of experience already in their careers. They sport the ability to beat you in multiple different ways with strong pitching, excellent defense especially up the middle, and an offense that can get rolling in a hurry.  With all the depth and experience coming back, look for Tuttle to once again be amongst the betting favorites to capture the 4A State Title again in May.

Impact Players:

Braylon Brooks, 2024, SS/RHP, OSU commit

Brooks has been a mainstay for the Tigers as an everyday starter in all three season prior to his senior campaign.  Brooks has a knack for making plays up the middle with strong lateral range, glove action, and a big arm working across the diamond.  Offensively, he will show some sneaky pop with the ability to work the ball to all fields.  Brooks also adds an element on the mound for the Tigers where he works the fastball in the upper 80’s to low 90’s and will mix in a big curveball and changeup.  Brooks plays with a ton of energy and passion and will definitely be counted on to bring big production on both sides of the ball to help the Tigers repeat in 2024.

Hunter Watson, 2026, INF/C/RHP, OU commit


Watson has been on our radar from a younger age as a hard throwing right-hander with advanced feel for pitching.  The OU commit regularly works in the low 90’s already with a sharp slider and makings of a plus changeup.  Watson gained some experience last season getting innings at the varsity level as a freshman and should see his role continue to expand.  Watson also offers up some positional versatility with the ability to play both behind the dish and at the hot corner.  While his work on the mound might catch the most buzz, don’t sleep on Watson with the bat in his hands as they will look to him to bring more production headed into 2024.

Grayson Barnes, 2024, RHP/1B, UCO commit

Barnes continued to make jumps on both sides of the ball each time we saw him and should see his role expand for the Tigers in 2024.  The right-hander works a heavy sinking fastball in the paper 80’s and will flash a short cutting slider in the 76-78 mph range.  When we caught him last spring, he was getting off the barrel repeatedly and pounded the strike zone to work deep into the game against a talented Owasso lineup.  Barnes will also show some strength at contact at the plate with exit velocities reaching up into the mid 90’s in the past.

Easton Green, 2025, OF/LHP, Uncommitted



 

Green worked last season as the everyday centerfielder and weekend starter on the mound for the Tigers and was one of the more productive players on the roster in 2023.  Green shows an advanced feel for pitching with the fastball working in the 82-83 range and shows feel for spinning the low 70’s curveball.  Offensively, Green uses an athletic swing from the left side to generate a consistent line drive approach paired with strong bat speed.  Green’s versatility has a large impact on the Tigers success and we would not be surprised to see him have a breakout junior season.

Brady McAdoo, 2025, MIF, Uncommitted

McAdoo spent the majority of 2023 rehabbing back from an injury that cost him a large portion of his sophomore campaign.  The junior middle infielder has shown strong athleticism in the past with a ton of range and ability to make the plus play look more routine than most.  Offensively, he shows some strength in the barrel with present gap power and would not be surprised to see him make even more jumps with added physicality in 2024.

Jackson Johnson, 2026, OF/RHP, Uncommitted

JJ picked up valuable experience last year as a starter in the outfield for the Tigers and lived up to the expectations of a freshman starter.  Johnson plays excellent defense out in the outfield with strong range and feel for tracking balls down in the gap.  Offensively, he has a short and compact stroke that plays up against better pitching and should be primed for a breakout campaign heading into his sophomore year.
