Outlook:

A new era of Santa Fe baseball begins in 2024 with Kris Webb taking over the reins to try and regain their place at the top of 6A in 2024. While the 2023 season was met with multiple challenges, they return a core group of high end talent that gained a ton of experience a year ago. Even with the talent returning, they will need to work on limiting the amount of runs scored that they did a year ago if they want a chance to compete for a state tournament berth. They have the type of high-end talent on the mound that when right, can be out-right untouchable, just need those arms to step up in 2024. Offensively, they have a strong mix of power and contact guys at the plate with strong defense up the middle. Edmond Santa Fe is still considered one of the “blue blood” programs of Oklahoma 6A baseball and we expect them to have a better run in 2024.

Not many prospects around the country have seen their stock rise quite like Brumbaugh’s has in the past 12 months. Brumbaugh went from a slick fielding middle infielder as a freshman to a shortstop with power and advanced athleticism. The thing that stands out most with Carson is his ability to make incredibly hard contact at a very consistent level. The ball jumps off the barrel at ease and has all the required tools in the swing to be considered amongst one of the top hitters in the country. While his main focus is as a position player, Brumbaugh also used his natural arm strength to his advantage this past summer working fastballs up into the mid 90’s and showing a very sharp and firm slider. His versatility will play a large role in whether or not the Wolves can get back to the top of 6A in 2024.

Savion Sims, 2026, RHP/OF, OU commit

Sims has all the tools on the mound to eventually becoming one of the more dominant right-handed arms in the state. Sims has long levers and a ton of hand speed to generate fastballs into the low 90’s already with strong tilt. The projectability is off the charts with Sims and if he continues to develop, he very well could be one of the top arms in the state in the near future regardless of class.

Brady Morgeson, 2026, INF, Uncommitted

Morgeson gained valuable experience last year spending his freshman year manning the hot corner at third base. Morgeson showed strong defensive actions with good footwork and a feel for glove action. Morgeson has a short and compact stroke from the left side with a line drive approach and is just beginning to tap into his strength at the plate. He should see his role expand in 2024 and will be relied upon to bring more production.

Carson Cooper, 2025, RHP/1B, Uncommitted

The 6-foot-5 and 170 pound right-hander continues to show improvement on the mound each time we see him with jumps in velocity and feel for pitchability. Cooper recently worked the fastball in the mid 80’s with high riding life through the zone at the Preseason All-State and also showed a tight breaking slider in the lower 70’s. Cooper still has plenty of room to continue to add strength and it would not be surprising to see him have a breakout junior campaign.
