Season Outlook
The 2017 Eagles will have a much different look from a year ago even though they are returning five starting position players and three arms with more than 15 innings a piece. The new faces for OCA could lead them deep into a state title run.
On the mound, junior Kaden Kirby will lead the way as the ace of the staff, featuring a fastball that has flashed upper 80’s. Junior Ty Dudley and left-handed senior Jacob Hearn will also fill spots in the rotation. Sophomore Landon Wilson and junior Kevin Collyar could also throw important innings for the Eagles.
Offensively, the athletic Collyar could hit at the top of the order or in the three-hole, but will be the heart of this lineup from either spot. Kirby and Dudley will be big contributors, likely filling the middle of the order. Physical and athletic freshman S'Mauri Abram will provide the pop for this offense and could be poised for a breakout year.
Defensively, Collyar will again lead the way for OCA. Joing Collyar on the infield could be Kaden Kirby, freshman Kohl Kirby, senior Cameron Stevens, and Hearn at first base. Sophomore catcher Blake Ellis will catch the majority of the innings for the Eagles upon his return. In the outfield, Diego Zavarce will bring experience and leadership.
