In a desire to best cover high school baseball in the state, PBR Oklahoma will be on the road this winter stopping by the practices and gathering information from teams around the state, highlighting top performers and difference makers for each club. Today, PBR Oklahoma will take an in-deep look at Deer Creek High School. Last year’s 6A second place finisher appears to have the talent to put together another strong year.

Season Outlook
The Antlers return 13 varsity players from last years team, making the 2017 squad very experienced.  They open the season ranked number seven in the __ preseason poll.

Leading the way on the mound for Deer Creek is 6-foot-9 left-handed Oklahoma State commit Mitchell Stone. Stone is ranked 23^rd overall and 4^th at his position in the PBR 2017 Class and 47^th in the PBR Draft 100. Some of the other talented arms on the staff include Central Oklahoma commit C.J. Scott, uncommitted 2017 right-hander Ryan Westerhoff, and 2018  left-hander Hunter Freese. There will be no velocity shortage on this staff.

Offensively, the Antlers will be anchored by uncommitted and highly touted shortstop Kaden Polcovich, ranked 256^th overall and 43^rd at his position in the PBR 2017 Class. Adding to the potent lineup will be physical New Orleans commit Kenny Yetter who will likely do the bulk of the catching again. Also hitting in the middle of the line up will be first baseman Cole Davis, a very constant threat. A physical offensive weapon, Wade Elliott will make his return to third base after an ACL tear cut his freshman campaign short. Outfielders Kaden Marshal , Jackie Robinson, and catcher Jordan Coffey are three other sophomores that all show good bat speed and will likely make contributions offensively.  With Deer Creek’s seemingly bottomless depth, there is plenty more talent on the roster that will surly contribute as well.

Defensively, the Antlers look to be strongest up the middle with junior Colton Bertus joining Polcovich on the infield as a sure-handed second baseman with smooth actions. Junior Garrett Wilkens will also find himself in the mix on the infield. Karson Turner will get many of the reps in center field, bring experience to the outfield.  There will also be plenty of experience behind the plate and at first base.
