PBR OK Sandlot Scout Day Upgrades: LHP Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma teamed up with Sandlot All-American baseball for the second annual Scout Day Upgrade on May 19th-20th at Broken Arrow HS in Tulsa and Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond. Nearly 60 players from 2021-2018 class participated in the PBR upgrade. Each player participated in a pro style showcase to show their skills and record measurables in front the PBR staff.

Grayson Adams LHP / OF / Bethany, OK / 2021A very projectible long and lean 6-foot-2, 154-pound frame with some athleticism. On the mound, the left-hander works from a controlled delivery with a moderate leg kick before gliding down the mound. Arm action has length in the back with a quick change of direction at the bottom of the arm stroke before coming through a high-¾ slot with looseness. Fastball sits 70-80 flashing some late life. Curveball has 1/7 shape with depth at 67-68 mph. Changeup shows consistent fade 72-73 mph. Shows advanced pitchablility with all three pitches controlled in the zone and the fastball commanded to both sides of the plate.

Christian Clack LHP / OF / Edison Prep, OK / 2020A developing 6-foot-2, 165-pound frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from a controlled wind-up with some rhythm and a high leg kick before gliding to the dish. Arm action is long in the back almost coming to a stop before circling through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball sits 84-87 mph and touches 88 with consistent arm side run and strikes. The slider has 1/7 shape with short and late depth at 73-74 mph. Changeup has consistent late fade and deception, with a chance to be a plus pitch in the future, 72-73 mph. |
Mason Conway LHP / 1B / Deer Creek, OK / 2021A physically advanced 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame. On the mound, the left-hander pitches only from the stretch with a slight crouch, high set hands and an uptempo delivery with a coiling leg kick before gliding down the mound. Arm action is short in the back with a quick change of direction before coming through a high-¾ slot with some recoil on the finish. Fastball keeps its plane at 68-69 mph, some strikes. Curveball has gradual 1/7 shape at 58-61 mph. Changeup is best at the bottom of the zone with sink, 64-66 mph. |
Chance Cox LHP / OF / Mustang , OK / 2021A physically advanced 6-foot, 165-pound athletic frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with rhythm that he repeats well. Arm action has moderate length in the back with a clean circle before coming through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball shows arm-side run especially down in the zone at 81-84 mph. Changeup has excellent fade and has a chance to be a plus pitch in the future, 65-70 mph. Curveball shows rolling action with 1/7 shape, 61-62 mph. Slider has shorter action with more late depth, 66-67 mph. |
Jaxson Crull OF / LHP / Bixby, OK / 2020A lean and quick twitch 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from a smooth and slightly uptempo delivery with a moderate leg kick before gliding to the dish. Arm action is long in the back with some stiffness coming through an over the top slot. Four-seam and two-seam fastballs both sit 79-81 with the two-seam showing some arm side run. Changeup shows late fade and depth, thrown with near fastball arm speed, 70-71 mph. Curveball has rolling action and near 12/6 shape, 68-69 mph. |
Jared Gay LHP / 1B / Piedmont, OK / 2020A physically advanced and broad shouldered 6-foot-1, 205-pound frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with a Kershaw-like pause after a high leg kick, completely stopping his momentum before striding to the dish. Arm action has moderate length, getting well behind him, makes a clean and quick circle before coming through an over the top slot. Fastball has some downhill tilt at 76-78 mph. Curveball has near 12/6 shape with some depth, 61-67 mph. Changeup keeps its plane at 69-71. |
Riley Lowry LHP / 1B / Mount Saint Mary, OK / 2019A physically impressive 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame with strength throughout. On the mound, the left-hander works with a controlled delivery and high leg kick that he repeats well. Arm action is long in the back behind him, pausing before coming through a ¾ slot with fluidity. Fastball shows slight arm-side run, mostly strikes, at 81-83 and touching 84 mph. Curveball has 1/7 shape with consistent depth. Changeup is thrown with moderate arm speed, 67-68 with some fade. |
Payne Maga LHP / 1B / Norman, OK / 2020A 5-foot-10, 150-pound developing frame with room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from an abbreviated wind-up with a high and smooth leg kick that he repeats very well. Arm action is moderate in the back with a quick change of direction at the bottom of the arm stroke before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 77-78, advanced command. Curveball has big 12/6 shape with late depth and is commanded in the bottom of the zone. Changeup keeps its plane, thrown with full arm speed, mostly strikes. |
Cole Miller LHP / Stillwater, OK / 2019A lean and athletic 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame with room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from a smooth average tempo delivery with a high leg kick and slight coil at the top that he repeats well. Arm action has length down out of the glove before a quick change of direction at the bottom of the arm stroke. Comes through an over the top slot with arm speed. Fastball shows late arm-side run at 82-85 mph with some downhill tilt. Breaking ball has slurve action with late depth, tight spin, and 2/8 shape at 72-73 mph. Changeup has fade, thrown with full arm speed, 77-79 mph. |
Seth Stacey LHP / 1B / Tahlequah, OK / 2020A broad shouldered 6-foot-1, 198-pound frame with strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly uptempo delivery with a moderate leg kick. Arm action is very short in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball shows consistent and late arm-side run, commanded down in the zone, 85-86 mph. Slider has tight spin and late depth with 2/8 shape, 75-77 mph. Changeup has heavy arm-side run, thrown with full arm speed, 74-75 mph. |
Rhett Walker LHP / OF / Sequoyah, OK / 2021A 5-foot-10, 155-pound lean frame with lots of room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander throws from a controlled delivery, sinking into his backside and takes an abbreviated stride before delivering the baseball. Arm action is long and loose in the back, getting up early before coming through a low-¾ slot. Fastball shows some arm-side run at 68-69 mph. Slider is advanced with east-west sweeping shape and consistent break, 62-63 mph. Changeup has fade and run at 61-63 mph. |
Tatum Watie LHP / OF / Berryhill, OK / 2020The recent Northeastern State commit has a developing 5-foot-11, 145-pound frame with lots of room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander works only from the stretch with a short leg kick and short stride. Arm action is long, clean, and very quick behind him, coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball shows some arm-side run, 74-76 mph, mostly strikes. Curveball morphs between 1/7 and 2/8 shape, spins out at times, 62-64 mph. Changeup sits 66-68 with some sinking action. |
Dylan Wilson LHP / 1B / Cascia Hall, OK / 2021A 6-foot, 175-pound lean frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with a high leg kick and rhythm before gliding down the mound. Arm action is very short in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball sits 70-71 mph with consistent big cut to both sides of the dish. Slider has similar shape to the fastball with more depth, 65-67 mph. Changeup has late sink, thrown with full arm speed, 67-68 mph. |
