OKC Preseason ID: Quick Hits

In our first ever Oklahoma City Preseason ID we had 49 players from the 2026 class to a handful of 2023's coming from all over the state. The event saw some guys make big jumps from where we've seen them in the past as well as got a few first looks at some prospects that will be definite follows in the coming years. The event consisted of laser timed 30's, BP rounds with the Trackman and Blast Motion sensors, defensive evaluations with radar gun readings, and bullpens to round it out. Today we take a look at some of the top performers from the event with a few quick notes on their noteworthy performances. Be on the lookout in the coming days for more stories and leaderboards.

Dax McCaskill 3B / 1B / Washington, OK / 2024McCaskill continues to make big jumps and should be one to start landing on people's radars sooner rather than later. McCaskill led the way at the event with a 3.77 30 as well as showing some serious power potential with exit velocities up to 95 mph. With a projectable build and strong set of tools, look for McCaskill to have another strong year for Washington in 2023.

Connor Cavnar C / 3B / Westmoore, OK / 2024The Westmoore backstop had a strong showing where he had exit velocities up to 97.5 mph thanks to his serious strength in the lower half as well as showing some athleticism running a 3.80 30. The throwing mechanism looks vastly improved since the summer with a cleaner arm stroke and easy carry on the arm generating pop times as low as 1.92 at 72 mph.

Carter Sterling 3B / SS / Oklahoma Christian, OK / 2024The lanky and projectably built infielder is starting to really make strides in his game especially when it comes to his added strength. Sterling had an impressive round of BP driving balls consistently with hard contact and exit velocities creeping up to 96.6 mph. With his build and added strength, look for Sterling to continue to make big jumps in the near future and should be primed as a breakout candidate in 2023.

Camden White OF / RHP / Choctaw, OK / 2023The top arm from the day came from Camden White where he showed off his arm strength both in the outfield touching 91 mph as well as jumping on the mound and working the fastball up to 85 mph. The ball jumps out of the hand with ease and with the hand speed it shouldn't be a shock to see more jumps in the near future.

Tanner McMurray C / 3B / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2024The catcher/corner infielder from Bishop Kelley showed a consistent round of BP with a line drive approach and strong balance throughout the swing. Behind the dish he recorded pop times as low as 1.93 with a quick exchange out of the glove. After looks at him in the Fall of 22, McMurray is showing more signs of consistency especially with the bat and will be one to keep an eye on as he keeps adding strength.

Hunter Watson C / 3B / Tuttle, OK / 2026Watson showed why he is one of the premium players in the country for the 2026 class with a strong swing and showing strength in the lower half. The arm strength is exceptional for the class with the arm registering at 81 mph from behind the plate. The OU commit has a strong future both on the mound and behind the plate and will be a definite prospect to keep your eyes on the future.

Jackson Johnson OF / RHP / Tuttle, OK / 2026The freshman outfielder showed an impressive build for a 2026 grad with some present strength and room to add more in the future. The swing produced multiple hard line drives throughout his BP round and he also showed off the arm strength from the outfield reaching up to 84 mph. On the mound he pounded the zone with multiple offerings and with his raw arm strength that shows up in the outfield, expect big jumps from him on the mound in the coming years.

Luke Graham OF / RHP / Yukon, OK / 2024The top power bat from the event belonged to Luke Graham with exit velocities up to 98.4 mph and an impressive 89.9 mph average. The ball exploded off the barrel with consistency thanks to his use of his natural leverage and ability to control the barrel in the zone. He also showed the athleticism throughout the day with a 3.87 30 yard time as well as showing some projectability in the outfield with clean movements and 82 mph radar gun reading.

Hunter Stockton SS / 2B / Cascia Hall, OK / 2023The Cascia Hall short stop packs a lot of punch in his frame showing hard contact and exit velocities up to 89.8 mph. With a short and compact stroke, Stockton wastes no time to getting to the ball with direct routes and a feel for barrel control. Defensively he understands the movements in the middle of the diamond with a feel for feet and rhythm.

Izzac Mia C / SS / Moore, OK / 2026The freshman 2-way guy showed off his positional versatility on Sunday with strong showings both in the infield and behind the plate. He also showed off some strength in the hands with exit velocities reaching up to 89 mph working as the top exit velocity for the 2026 class at the event. He jumped on the mound and showed a quick arm and fastballs reaching up to 80 mph making him an intriguing 2-way prospect to keep an eye on in the future.

Kaden Longman OF / C / Newcastle, OK / 2026In arguably the most impressive showing from the day belonged to the freshman from Newcastle where he tied an event best 85 mph on the mound as well as showing the arm strength both in the outfield and from behind the plate. At a leaner frame, Longman is able to generate a ton of power thanks to his quick hand speed and clean arm action. As he continues to grow and add strength, Longman has the potential to be one of the top power arms in the State.

Carson Beam RHP / 1B / Heritage Hall, OK / 2024Beam really impressed on the mound on Sunday with the fastball working 82-84 mph with some strong life through the zone. Also flashed the makings of a future plus slider that had tight shape at 74-75 mph. Beam has the projectable size and feel for his mechanical process on the mound that makes him a prospect to keep an eye on in the future.

Noah Entrekin LHP / 1B / Edmond Memorial , OK / 2025The left-hander impressed on the bump working the fastball at 81-83 mph coming from a unique slot that will give hitters some trouble. He pairs the fastball with a sweeping curveball that should make him a tough matchup against left-handed hitters and showed a fading change up to add to the arsenal.

Corbin Rodriguez SS / RHP / Southmoore, OK / 2026The shortstop/right-handed pitcher showed off some advanced tools on Sunday with a 3.92 30 yard dash and showed an 81 mph arm from across the diamond. It was on the mound that really caught our attention where the freshman worked the fastball up to 84 mph and showed a hard-downer curveball in the mid 70's that has the makings of a true swing and miss pitch in the future.
