PBR OK strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. The Prep Baseball Report is the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in each state we cover through our variety of events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work in tandem, ultimately creating the most powerful source of high school baseball promotion in each state. While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

This fall, PBR OK will continue highlighting some of the top ranked and uncommitted players in the 2019 class as they prepare to enter their senior seasons. Today, we take a look at a left-hander that put up staggering numbers on both sides of the ball last year for Lawton MacArthur, LHP/OF Michelle Artzberger.

Scouting Report

10/29/2016
A 5-foot-11, 175-pound proportional build. Works from an average tempo delivery, some stiffness. Arm action shows a quick change of direction in the back, comes through clean and quick, 3/4 slot. Fastball flashes late arm-side run, 78-79 mph. Changeup has some fade at 71 mph. Breaking ball is up out of the hand with slurve shape, 61-62 mph. Recorded two strikeouts and gave up two hits in his inning of work. Filled up the strike zone throwing only two balls. Offensively, left-handed hitter, middle-pull approach with doubles arch. Open set-up with rhythm, moderate knee-knock leg kick, uphill bat path, some pop to the pull side, consistent barrels, 81 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.47 60. Defensively, average feet and hands, loose 3/4 slot, accurate, 72 mph to third base. Artzberger had a base hit through the right side along with two strikeouts.

2/4/18
A 5-foot-11, 185-pound proportional frame. On the mound, works from an average tempo abbreviated wind-up with excellent rhythm that he repeats very well. Uses a moderate and controlled leg kick before sinking into his back side and gliding to the dish, striding slightly closed, and finishing in line. Arm action is long in the back with a slight stab and quick change of direction, hides the ball well before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 78-80 with advanced command. Curveball shows big 1/7 shape with late depth, tight spin, and advanced feel for the zone, 62-64 mph. Changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed and shows consistent late fade, 69-70 mph.  Overall, Artzberger’s pitchability and deception are going to allow him to get consistent outs at the next level.

A proportional and durable 5-foot-11, 185-pound frame. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a wide and open set-up with low-set hands and rhythm throughout. Uses a moderate knee-knock leg kick and load before launching his hands a on a short and flat path through contact. In BP, shows a line-drive opposite field approach, flashing some pop, almost all barrels, 88 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.47 60. Defensively, shows athletic actions around first base with sure hands. Throws the the same fluid and pure arm action from the infield and outfield that he does on the mound, 84 from the OF, 74 from first, both with accuracy.
