OK Top Senior Games: Outfielder Analysis

PBR OK hosted the third annual Top Senior Games at the beautiful and fully turfed Wendell Simmons Field at the University of Central Oklahoma. Nearly 50 players showcased their skill in front of the PBR OK staff and 15 colleges including 11 jucos, 2 Ds, and a D1.

Clayton Abercrombie OF / 2B / Kingfisher, OK / 2020The 5-foot-8, 140-pound primary outfielder displayed a lean and compact frame. The right-handed hitter begins with a slightly open, narrow stance utilizing a leg-hang to initiate his swing. Demonstrated solid barrel-awareness with a line-drive approach registering bat-exit velocities of 77 mph . Barrel stays in the zone a long time due to a fluid lower-half and present feel for his hands. Recorded a 7.00 60-yard dash. The outfielder showcased advanced footwork during defensive evaluations utilizing a quick first-step to get behind the baseball with consistency. Momentum played through the ball and generated accurate 80 mph arm-strength from an over-the-top arm-stroke. |
Keaton Abercrombie OF / 2B / Kingfisher , OK / 2020The 5-foot-11, 168-pound outfielder displayed a physical frame with present athleticism. The right-handed hitter starts with high hands in a straight up, even stance utilizing a toe-tap to initiate his swing. Sat into a strong lower-half to generate a slightly uphill attack-angle upon impact with noticeable bat speed. Registered consistent 89 mph bat-exit velocities with backspin to both gaps. Ran a 6.96 60-yard dash. The outfielder demonstrated easy, fluid movements during defensive evaluations with feet that played through the baseball with momentum. A quick, high ¾ arm-stroke yielded accurate 83 mph throws across the infield. |
Angel Ackerman 2B / OF / Choctaw, OK / 2020The 5-foot-8, 180-pound primary outfielder featured a strong, compact frame with some twitch and present athleticism. The right-handed hitter starts with a wide, square stance utilizing a leg-kick to initiate his swing. Demonstrated a short, easy swing with a barrel that increases speed through the zone. High hands to start coupled with a strong lower-half yielded a flat barrel-path to the ball on impact, registering bat-exit velocities of 88 mph. Recorded an impressive 6.69 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder showcased advanced footwork getting behind the baseball with consistency. A quick first-step allowed for easy reads on routes during defensive evaluations. Flashed an accurate 84 mph arm-strength from the outfield utilizing a long, high ¾ arm-stroke. The second baseman showed solid footwork with adequate range to both sides. A soft glove-hand allowed for smooth, simple transfers. Displayed advanced control of his body during plays on the run. |
Mickey Boyer OF / OF / Yukon, OK / 2020The 5-foot-11, 160-pound outfielder displayed a lean frame with an athletic build. The left-handed hitter starts with a slightly bent, wide stance with a barrel that points straight up at the shoulder. A quick lift-and-replace stride coupled with hands that stretch backward into launch position initiate his swing. Used a low center of gravity in the box to hit into a stiff-front side generating slightly uphill attack angles and 84 mph bat-exit velocities. Ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. The outfielder demonstrated adequate footwork during defensive evaluations with momentum that carried through the ball. Kobe Houseman OF / C / Macarthur, OK / 2020The 5-foot-7, 146-pound outfielder displayed a lean, athletic frame with feel for his body. The right-handed hitter begins with hands that start out over the plate at the shoulder coupled with a slightly-bent, square stance. Utilized a leg-lift to initiate his swing while launching from the shoulder, creating a flat bat-path upon impact. Registered an 82 mph bat-exit velocity with feel for his hands. Recorded an impressive 6.75 60-yard dash. The outfielder showcased quick, easy movements with feet that consistently played behind the baseball. Played low to the ground with a quality first-step on routes. Generated momentum with a strong-lower half on accurate throws of 75 mph from his position using a long, high ¾ arm-slot. |
Mason McIntyre OF / Yukon, OK / 2020The 6-foot-1, 165-pound outfielder featured a strong frame with a stocky build. The right-handed hitter starts with a slightly-open, bent stance utilizing a quick toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Demonstrated easy bat-speed through the zone with noticeable sink into a strong backside. Devin Orr OF / 1B / Washington, OK / 2020The 6-foot-3, 200-pound primary outfielder displayed a solid frame with a blend of strength and athleticism. The left-handed hitter begins from a slightly bent, open stance with hands bouncing off of the shoulder. A quick lift-and-replace stride and simple, easy movement back into launch allowed for consistent barrels to be found. Present barrel-whip through the zone generated a slightly uphill attack angle upon impact. The lefty hit into a stiff front-side with fluid hip-drive recording an 87 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 6.93 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder showcased average footwork during defensive evaluations creating adequate momentum towards the target. A short takeaway and quick, high ¾ arm-stroke yielded throws of 76 mph from his position. |
Kellen Pokoski RHP / OF / Owasso, OK / 2020A very lean and projectable 6-foot-3, 165-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright and open set up with some rhythm in his pushed back hands. Uses a moderate knee-knock leg kick and long stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension with some length and excellent extension. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with occasional lift and mostly barrels, 88 mph exit velo. Defensively, shows clean, confident, and fluid actions in the outfield with sure hands. Throws with a long arm stroke coming through an over the top slot with accuracy at 83 mph. |
Isaac Stebens RHP / OF / Stillwater, OK / 2020The 5-foot-11, 167-pound outfielder featured an athletic, lean frame with room to add on. The left-handed hitter starts with a wide, even stance with hands that begin at the shoulder. A knee-knock coupled with a deep load initiated a slightly uphill swing through the zone. Gabriel Williams OF / 3B / Washington , OK / 2020The 6-foot-3, 182-pound primary outfielder featured a filled out, stocky frame with present strength. The right-handed hitter begins with an even stance utilizing a toe-tap and stretched load to create barrel-whip in the zone. Demonstrated consistent, loud pop to all fields while showing advanced barrel awareness. The outfielder utilized adequate footwork yielding throws of 79 mph from his position. Feet arrived with solid rhythm playing through the ball. A long, high ¾ arm-stroke was used to flash an accurate throwing arm from the outfield. The secondary third-baseman showed quality feet with adequate feel for his body defensively.
