OK Preseason All State Showcase Analysis: Third Basemen

The third annual Preseason All-State Showcase was held at The Grind sports facility in Oklahoma City, OK on Sunday, February 3rd. This one day event featured a completely sold out event of 100 prospects in the 2019-2022 classes from around the state showcasing their skills in front of PBR staff.

This talented event saw impressive numbers in every category, including 16 sub seven second 60s, eight 90+ exit velos, 10 arms that were 85+ across the infield (top 92), nine arms that were 85+ from the outfield (top 91), four sub two second pop times, and 10 pitchers that were 85+ (top 93)

Third Basemen

Garrett Casey 3B / RHP / Owasso, OK / 2020

A 5-foot-11, 185-pound durable frame with some strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, balanced, and upright set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth reverse toe-tap stride and slight hand pump before launching his hands on a smooth a slightly uphill path with some bat speed and barrel strength. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with occasional lift and loud contact, nearly all barrels, 88 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.09 60. Defensively, shows clean and confident actions with above average hands. Throws with a short arm stroke coming through a ¾ slot. Shows excellent accuracy at 86 mph across the diamond.

Brent Faith 3B / 2B / Berryhill, OK / 2019

A 5-foot-8, 160-pound proportional frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a wide open and very back leg heavy set-up with rhythm in his high set hands. Uses a short stride with a coiling front side and a late heel plant before pulling his hands through an uphill path with extension. In BP, shows a pull and flat approach, some barrels, 75 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.25 60. Defensively, shows confident and clean actions with above average hands and quick and active feet. Throws with a short arm stroke coming through a ¾ slot with a quick release. Shows developing accuracy at 74 mph across the diamond.

Dylan Hampton 3B / RHP / Piedmont , OK / 2020

A 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame with strength throughout. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an athletic, quiet, and slightly closed set-up. Uses almost no load and a moderate stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension with bat speed and barrel strength. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field approach with lift, mostly barrels, 91 exit velo. Runs a 7.08 60. Defensively, shows clean and deliberate actions with some heaviness in his feet. Throws with a full and fast arm stroke with coming through a near over the top slot with arm speed. Shows some accuracy at 87 mph across the diamond.

Hunter Lenochan 3B / RHP / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2021

A 6-foot, 160-pound lean frame with lots of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright, open, and relaxed set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a short reverse toe-tap load at times and a short leg lift others before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path with length. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field and flat approach with developing strength, mostly barrels, 77 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.81 60. Defensively, shows controlled and deliberate actions with some smoothness and average hands. Throws with different arm stroke coming through multiple slots depending on the play. Shows some accuracy at 77 mph across the diamond.

Morgan Lunceford RHP / 3B / Shawnee , OK / 2021

A 5-foot-11, 175-pound lean and muscular frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a wide open and athletic set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth and short load and short stride before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path with good extension and bat speed and barrel strength. In BP, shows an all fields approach with consistent lift, mostly barrels, 89 exit velo. Runs a 7.38 60. Defensively, shows clean and deliberate actions with above average hands. Throws with a moderate arm stroke coming through a high ¾ slot. Shows some accuracy with advanced arm strength at 89 mph across the diamond.

Josh McNeil RHP / 3B / Minco, OK / 2020

A 6-foot, 180-pound proportional frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, balanced, and right set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth load and short stride before launching his hands on a flat and efficient path through extension. In BP, shows a consistently pull approach with lift, some barrels, 83 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.21 60. Defensively, shows confident and clean actions with above average hands and smooth footwork. Throws with a full arm stroke coming through an over the top slot. Shows some accuracy at 80 mph across the diamond.

Ty Moore 3B / OF / Verdigris , OK / 2020

A 6-foot-2, 210-pound advanced frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a quiet, wide, and open but coiled front side with weight on his back leg and slightly over the dish. Uses a smooth load and kneed-knock leg kick before launching his hands on a flat and efficient path through extension. In BP, shows a middle of the field and flat approach, mostly barrels, 87 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.59 60. Defensively, shows advanced, confident, and clean actions with impressively light and clean footwork for a player his size along with well above average hands. Throws with a short and quick arm stroke with athleticism coming through multiple slots depending on the play. Shows excellent accuracy at 80 mph across the diamond.

Diego Ramirez 3B / RHP / Bethany , OK / 2019

A 5-foot-11, 200-pound durable frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an even, quiet, and slightly front foot heavy set-up. Uses a moderate leg kick and moderate stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension with some bat speed. In BP, shows a , 85 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.7 60. Defensively, shows clean and deliberate actions with some rhythm in his feed and above average hands. Throws with a moderate arm stroke coming through a high ¾ slot. Shows excellent accuracy at 75 mph across the diamond.

Gray Thomas RHP / 3B / Heritage Hall, OK / 2021

A 6-foot-4, 190-pound long frame with some strength throughout. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright, even, and balanced set-up with some rhythm in his high-set hands. Uses a very big and aggressive leg kick and moderate stride before launching his hands on a flat path to contact with a high finish and advanced bats speed and some barrel strength. In BP, shows some middle of the field and flat with mostly pull on the ground, some barrels, 89 exit velo. Runs a 7.58 60. Defensively, shows confident actions, playing high with active feet and above average hands. Throws with a full arm stroke coming through a low ¾ slot with elite arm speed. Shows some accuracy at 92 mph across the diamond.

Tucker Whitekiller 3B / RHP / Collinsville, OK / 2021

A 6-foot, 150-pound lean frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a slightly wide, event, balanced, and athletic set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth load and slight arm bar and short knee-knock stride before launching his hands on a flat path to contact with a high finish. In BP, shows a mostly pull and flat approach with developing strength, mostly barrels , 79 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.09 60. Defensively, shows clean and confident actions, best with his feet on the move, and above average hands. Throws with multiple arm strokes coming through multiple slots depending on the play. Shows excellent accuracy completing every play at 77 mph across the diamond.
