OK JR. Future Games Trials: LHP Analysis

The second annual OK Junior Future Games Trials was held at the state of the art 20,000 square ft, Wold Baseball Outreach indoor facility. This one day event featured many of the top prospects in the 2023 and 2024 classes from around the state showcasing their skills in front of PBR staff.
This talented event saw impressive numbers in every category, including 6 sub 7.1 60s, ten 81+ exit velos, five arms that were 79+ across the infield, six arms that were 80+ from the outfield, two sub two second pop times, and five pitchers that were 80+.
Today, we take an in-depth look at the left-handed pitchers from the event.
Ashton Bennight LHP / OF / Yukon, OK / 2023A 6-foot-2, 160 pound lean and projectable frame. On the mound the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with a moderate leg kick before gliding down the mound and finishing to the dish. Arm action long and controlled in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball keeps its plane up in the zone and flashes some arm side run down in the zone, some strikes, 77-79 mph. Curveball flashes some tight spin and depth at times with big 12/6 shape at 65-67 mph some strikes. Changeup is developing at 69-71. |
Tyler Johnson 1B / LHP / Lincoln Christian, OK / 2023A 5-foot-8, 190 pound durable frame. On the mound the left-hander works from a controlled tempo delivery with a moderate leg kick before gliding down the mound. Arm action has moderate length in the back with some stiffness before coming through a ¾ slot. Fastball sits 69-75 with consistent arm side run, some strikes. Curveball shows some tight spin with 1/7 shape and some strikes at 59-63. Changeup shows some fade at 60-65, some strikes. |
Nathan Rogalski LHP / 1B / Deer Creek, OK / 2023A 5-foot-11, 167 pound frame with lots of room to add size and strength. On the mound the left-hander works from a slightly up tempo delivery with a high leg kick before striding down the mound and finishing towards the dish. Arm action is long, loose, and fluid in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot with quickness. Fastball shows some arm side run at 76-77, mostly strikes. Curveball shows big 1/7 shape at 64-66 mph, some strikes. Changeup has consistent fade and some depth, mostly strikes at 64-68. |
Taylor Tomlin OF / LHP / Deer Creek, OK / 2023A 5-foot-8, 135 pound developing frame with lots of room to add size and strength. On the mound the left-hander works from an up tempo delivery with a quick up, down, and out leg kick before gliding down the mound and finishing to the dish. Arm action is long and quick in the back, getting behind him before pulling it through a ¾ slot. Fastball shows some arm side run at 70-72 mph mostly strikes. Curveball has slurvy shape with rolling action at 58-62 mph, mostly strikes. Changeup is thrown with full arm speed and shows some fade at 62-64, almost all strikes. |
David Wind 1B / LHP / Edmond North, OK / 2024A 5-foot-4, 115 pound developing frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with rhythm that he repeats well using a high leg kick before gliding down the mound and finishing to the third base side. Arm action drops straight down in the back with moderate length before coming through a near over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 64-65 mph, mostly strikes. Changeup is thrown with full arm speed and shows heavy fade at 57-58 mostly strikes. Cutter shows consistent late movement with tight spin and mostly strikes at 58-61. |
