OK High School Preseason Spotlight: Silo

Diego Solares
Staff Writer

The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on March 2nd, opening day for regular season action under Ossaa regulations. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2021 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

If you would like your team covered, please have your head coach email us at [email protected]

Our 2021 preseason coverage continues today.

Team: Silo
OSSAA Class: 2A
Head Coach: Billy Jack Bowen
Returning Starters: 5
Returning Pitchers: 4

TOP PLAYERS

The top player on this Silo squad is sophomore SS/RHP Kyler Proctor, a nationally ranked prospect that’s also ranked sixth overall in Oklahoma’s 2023 class. Proctor brings an advanced up-the-middle presence to the diamond for someone his age and his smooth right-handed stroke profiles as a future top-of-the-lineup bat. He’s also a talented arm on the mound, so he’ll contribute in just about every way possible for this Silo squad. Although there’s plenty of time left in his prep career, Silo is committed to join the Sooners in Norman once he progresses to the next level.

OUTLOOK

STRENGTHS: “Depth.”

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: This Silo squad was hurt by last year’s shutdown, graduating several players with only four upperclassmen returning. They’ll rely on several youngsters with inexperience to play key positions for them and that’ll ultimately be the deciding factor in how their season plays out.
