Multiple Players Show Big Talent At The Central Oklahoma College Showcase

The Central Oklahoma College Showcase took place at Rose State College in mid-October. The showcase was rich in talent with nearly 100 players from the 2017, 2018, and 2019 classes in attendance. Today, PBR Oklahoma takes a look at a few of the top players from the event. Those some of the athletes below are two-way players, their primary position will be the focus.
Korde Busby, RHP, Moore HS (2017)
A recent NOC Tonkowa recruit, 6-foot-4, 180-pounds long, athletic build, very projectable. Works from an average temo delivery with good rhythm and timing. Uses a big arm circle, 3/4 slot, and loose and smooth arm action. Fastball ranges 85-88 mph with some deception. Breaking ball has slurve action at 66-69 mph.
Noah Chapin, RHP, Moore HS (2018)
A 6-foot, 150-pound slender frame with room to add size and strength. Works from an up-tempo, smooth delivery, short arm circle, high-3/4 slot, loose arm. Hides the ball well. Fastball keeps its plane at 82-85 mph. Breaking ball rolls at 66-68 mph.
Cline Corley, RHP, Carl Albert HS (2017)
A 6-foot, 185-pound frame with some strength. Works from a smooth delivery with average tempo and effort, up-down-and out leg kick, slight hand hook in the back, throws with a clean arm action, high-3/4 slot, and a balanced finish. Fastball has slight downhill tilt at 84-85 mph and touches 86. Slider has 11/5 shape, some depth, 69-70 mph.
Devin Crawford, RHP, Heritage Hall (2017)
The Eastern Oklahoma State commit stands 6-foot-3, 195-pound strong, durable build. Works from a controlled delivery, slight stab in the bottom of the take away followed by a small arm circle, over the top slot, and fast arm. Fastball keeps its planes at 82-85 mph and touches 86 mph. Slider has 11/5 shape and shows depth, 69-71 mph.
Logan Glass, RHP, Mustang HS (2019)
A 6-foot-4, 177-pound advanced frame with some strength and long legs. Works from a slightly up-tempo delivery, with some rhythm, clean arm circle, 3/4 slot, fast arm, falling forward finish, release point varied some. Fastball sits 86-87 mph and touches 89, flashes some cut. Arm slot rises some on the curveball, 12/6 shape, 69-71, occasionally late and sharp with depth.
Landon Lord, SS, Southmoore HS (2017)
A 5-foot-10, 175-pound athletic build with a strong lower half. Ran a showcase best 6.87 60. Offensively, right-handed hitter, all fields approach, loose, fast hands. A balanced, athletic set-up with good rhythm in his hands, slight leg kick, uphill bat path, bat speed. Defensively, good feet, soft hands, and accurate arm, 78 mph to first base. Lord is easily one of the best uncommitted short stops in Oklahoma’s 2017 class.
Wyatt Olds, RHP, McLoud HS (2018)
A 6-foot, 170-pound athletic build. Works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with good rhythm and athleticism. Olds gets long and extended in the back and underneath the baseball before whipping his arm through at a just above side arm slot, and a violent finish. Fastball sits 87-89 with massive arm side run and sink. Slider has 10/4 shape with late depth, backs up at times. One of the best arms in Oklahoma’s 2018 class.
E.J. Taylor, 1B, Midwest City HS (2017)
The recent NOC Enid commit stands 6-foot-3, 215-pound with a thick, strong build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull approach, very strong. A wide, athletic set-up, early, short stride with late heel plant for timing. Short to the ball, flat plane through contact, quality leg drive, and creates some backspin. Ran a 7.38 60. Defensively, above average actions at first base, good, accurate arm with carry, 79 mph across the infield.
Michael Taylor, RHP, Moore HS (2017)
A 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame with longs limbs, very projectable. Pitches from a slow controlled delivery, high leg kick, big arm circle, high-3/4 slot, fast arm, some recoil. Fastball has a downhill plane and flashes some arm –side run, 84-86 mph. Breaking ball has slurve action at 69-71 mph with some depth.
Chance Westervelt, C, Westmoore HS (2019)
A 5-foot-11, 190-pound strong, muscular build, defined lower half. Offensively, right-handed hitter, all fields approach, strong hands. Upright stance, high hands, big leg kick, moderate stride, short to contact, flat, on plane through contact, shows good gap-to-gap pop. Defensively, good exchanges, a bit stiff at times, average blocking, fast arm, a showcase best 1.94 pop, 74 mph to second. Ran a 7.03 60.
