With the 2018 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state. Starting mid-January, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2018 Spring Team Preview: Youngstown Ursuline Fighting Irish
Team Name: Youngstown Ursuline Fighting Irish
Head Coach: Matt Weymer
Division: II
2017 Record: 7-17
Conference Record: Independent
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 8/3
2018 Team Strengths:
- Youth
- Competition for playing time
- Last year’s failures as motivation
Coach Outlook: We took a lot of lumps last year playing up to 7 underclassman at times. We still have questions in terms of our pitching depth and our lack of offensive firepower. But our kids are eager to compete and we should see marked improvement this season
PBR Outlook: After a down 2017 season in Ursuline standards, look for the Fighting Irish and head coach Matt Weymer to get back to winning ways in 2018. With 8 starters and 3 arms returning, the Fighting Irish could be an intriguing team this year.
