Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Nick Muse (Tippecanoe HS)
March 19, 2012
Nick Muse, RHP, Tippecanoe HS
Tippecanoe senior, Nick Muse can have a very imposing look on the mound. After attending the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase in February many college coaching are starting to take notice.
“I had a few e-mails and a couple calls because of the showcase. I gained quite a bit of experience because it was my first time for any kind of event like what that PBR Showcase was.”
Here is what PBR had to say about Muse:
The 6’3, 210-pound right-handed pitcher has a big, solid frame. He uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. He produces a heavy fastball with the occasional ASR that sits between 81-83 mph. His curveball has late 11/5 break and fluctuates between 66-70 mph. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed. It sits between 74-76 while showing some sink down in the zone. Lastly, he throws a split-finger fastball that stays right around 68-69 mph while showing occasional diving action down in the zone.
Nick does not have a time table when it comes to making a decision. However, he is looking for a school with an organized coaching staff and good academics to help match his 3.5 GPA.
He is currently talking to the following schools: Muskingum, Marian, Ashford, Bluffton, Belmont Abbey College, Alabama St, and Florida Christian College.
Muse is hoping to build upon his stats from last spring, as he posted a record of 4-2 over 41.1 innings, with 40 K's, and a 1.52 ERA.
This summer, Nick will take the hill for the Central Ohio Clippers, where they will be playing in several tournaments throughout the Midwest as well as one in New York. .
