The Buckeye State is filled with high-level baseball prospects throughout each corner of the state. The 2018 class has commitments all across the United States, from Vanderbilt to Miami to Kentucky to Missouri to Nebraska and many more colleges across the U.S. When looking at the 2018 rankings, you will see plenty of Ohio colleges littered throughout all of the commitments as well.
The 2019, 2020 and 2021 classes are loaded and primed to make some big-time commitments to colleges all across the nation over the next few years. PBR Ohio is committed to bringing insightful information on big-time commitments as well as providing a spotlight on the top uncommitted prospects.

Only now a football dream comes with it. Jase Bowen, who had previously committed to play baseball at Notre Dame only to decommit when heavy Division I interest developed in football, has decided to play both sports at Michigan State. The Toledo Central Catholic junior made the commitment on Saturday prior to the MSU spring football game. “I’ve always had a love for both sports,” Bowen explained. “As a kid I grew up playing backyard baseball and backyard football. I’d act like I was playing for a college team. I’m still dreaming about it.” The idea of getting a full scholarship in football for the Spartans to go along with the opportunity to play baseball was too much to pass up for Bowen. “I was young when I originally committed and at the time didn’t know if I had the ability to play football at the next level,” Bowen explained. “My junior season I got my first football offer from Toledo. I wanted to go to college for free to help my family financially and Michigan State offered that. With baseball you’ve got to pay.” Bowen, who had an 80 percent baseball-only scholarship at Notre Dame, made trips to Michigan State twice since deciding to look at the possibilities of playing both sports. |
