Top Prospects from Ohio Unsigned Senior Showcase

Today, we breakdown the top prospects from the Unsigned Senior Showcase on December 1st. The event featured over 45 players from four different states. There were over 20 colleges in attendance from six different states. The next Unsigned Senior Showcase will be in Columbus on January 27th.

TOP TEN PROSPECTS
1. Zack Jansen, RHP/3B, Maderia HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect. Shows two way potential, but best on the mound. Good strength in body. Has high front side kick with balanced delivery with moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 slot. Has some late life on fastball ranging 85-87 mph. Good feel on slurvy tilt curve at 74-76 mph. Sells arm on change with arm side run at 72-73 mph. Hits from upright stance. Shows power potential. Triggers hands from shoulder with some upper cut in path. Has good hand finish and lower body torque. Played quarterback for high school football team and cousin of Arkansas recruit Andrew Benintendi.
2. Max Lyon, OF/RHP, Toledo St. Francis DeSales, Class of 2013
6-foot-1, 165-pound athletic prospect. Ran excellent 6.86 60-yard dash while showing arm strength from both outfield and infield (80-82 mph). Good balance and arm carry from outfield while having good range and hands from infield. Hits from upright stance. Shows batspeed into zone from shoulder trigger. Controlled upper cut w/power potential and good lower half. Has one hand swing finish. Has balanced delivery on the bump with moderate upper 3/4 arm speed. Fastball sits 81-83 mph and shows some spin on 70-71 curve. Displays push tendency on 70-71 mph change.
3. Tyler Walsh, OF/RHP, Campbell Co. HS (KY), Class of 2013
5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect with two-way abilities. On the mound, throws from the stretch with moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 slot. Fastball showed some late life, ranging 83-85 mph. Cut/slider had some late bite (73-75 mph) while showing a feel for downward spin curve (70-71 mph). Change was straight at 77-78 mph. Good raw skills. Ran 7.07 60-yard dash with 86 mph arm strength from outfield with carry. Good range and hands from infield (78 mph arm). Attacks ball well from wide based open stance. Has flat bat plane path with some upper cut. One hand finish. Shows good lower body torque.
4. Mitch McNabb, RHP/SS, Bishop Ready HS, Class of 2013
6-foot, 168-pound prospect that profiles best on the mound. Shows clean delivery with some effort. Moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 slot. Aggressive nature. Fastball shows some late life, ranging 83-85 mph. Has feel of downward spin on curveball (73-74 mph) and arm action on changeup (73-75 mph). Good raw skills. Ean 7.25 60-yard dash with good overall infield skills and 77 mph arm from all angles. Has open hitting stance with shoulder level hand trigger and some upper cut bat path. Shows good hand finish, but needs to improve lower body tourque.
5. Ronald Hall, OF/LHP, Princeton HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-11, 180-pound two-way prospect. Good actions two-shot guy with excellent arm strength from outfield (85 mph) with carry. Registered 7.45 60-yard dash after pulling up with bad hamstring. At the plate, the left-handed hitter uses a slightly open stance. Makes contact into zone from sholulder trigger. Has upper cut in swing with one hand finish. On the hill, he throws through 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows some cut action at 81-82 mph. Curve has some downward spin at 64-67 mph with straight change at 66-68 mph.
6. Rashawn Thompson OF/INF, Princeton HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-10, 165-pound athletic prospect with excellent raw skills. Ran 6.89 60-yard dash (on slow surface) and displayed 83 mph arm strength from the outfield. Has good body balance, profiles better as an outfielder. Infield range good but needs to improve accepting the ball. Offensively, he has an open base stance. Squares front side with some batspeed and controlled upper-cut bat path. Displays power potential. Good hand swing finish and lower body torque. Will only get better as he gets physically stronger.
7. Garrett Mitchell, C/OF, Miami East HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-3, 180-pound athletic prospect with physical projection in lanky body. Possess good raw skills. Ran 6.97 60-yard dash. Displays 83 mph arm strtength from the outfield (showed 87 mph in June). Good receiving skills with lateral movement. Needs to be more consistent keeping hand on top of throws to enhance split times (2.05/2.08). Hits from upright stance. Shows batspeed from chest level hand trigger. Good hand finish and hip rotation.
8. T.J. Marklay, RHP, Moeller HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-3, 195-pound right-handed pitcher. Another in the long line of Moeller pitchers. Good pitcher's body. Has some effort in delivery. Uses over the top arm slot. Fastball shows some life ranging 82-84 mph. Has some downward spin on curve (70-71 mph) and bite on cut/slider (72-75 mph). Has some downward sink on change (72-75 mph). Draws comparison to Moeller 2012 RHP Zach Williams (Bellarmine recruit).
9. Corbon Angermeier, RHP, NDCL, Class of 2013
6-foot-4, 198-pound right-handed pitcher. Tall body with some physical projection. Shows moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Needs to improve overall balance in delivery which shows some effort. Fastball shows some life in zone, ranging 82-84 mph (picked up 5-6 mph from the summer). Shows some feel for off speed pitches. Curve has some downward spin at 68-70 mph while change has good arm action at 76-77 mph.
10. Derek Hendrixson, IF/RHP, Centerville HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-11, 170-pound two-way potential. All around solid baseball player that you have to sit on to appreciate. Runs 7.41 60-yard with solid infield actions with hands and feet. Has 81 mph arm strength from all angles. Good balance. Hits with open stance. Squares front side with shoulder level swing trigger. Good hand finish and lower half torque. Aggressive mound presence with quick arm through 3/4 slot. Fastball ranges 81-83 mph. Shows good feel for 72-73 mph curve with 76-77 cutter. Has good arm action on 71-72 mph change.

Derrick Stephenson, RHP, Midview HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed pitcher that is returning from Tommy John surgery (winter of 2012). Shows good balanced delivery and presence with moderate arm speed through 3/4 arm slot. Fastball showed some late life, ranging 82-84 mph (arm worked well). Changeup (67-68 mph) showed some downward action. Obviously was not asked to throw any breaking balls at this time.
Howie Smith, RHP, Talawanda HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-3, 195-pound right-handed pitcher. Possess good pitcher's body with some effort in delivery. Moderate arm speed through upper 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows some arm side run, velocity ranging 80-82 mph. Has feel for slurvy tilt curveball with some depth at 66-67 mph. Slider/cutter ranged 69-70 mph with 72-73 mph straight change up.
Jacob Sheaf, 1B/RHP, Wilmington HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect with good physical projection. Good defensive skills around the bag with 77 mph arm from all angles. Ran 7.24 60-yard dash. Shows good batspeed from upright right-handed power stance. Has shoulder level trigger. Good power potential with hand swing finish and lower half tourque. On the mound, repeats delivery well with moderate upper 3/4 arm slot. Spots fastball with 80-82 mph velocity. Has some feel for downward tilt curveball (70-71 mph) with some sink and run on change (74-75 mph).
Joseph Swisher, IF/RHP, Westerville Central HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-6, 155-pound infielder. Smallish type player with excellent baseball sense and hitting ability. Shows good infield skills with balance. Displays 77 mph arm strength from all angles. Ran 7.27 60-yard dash. Hits from open stance. Squares with good bat speed from shoulder trigger. Squares barrel very well with some controlled upper cut. Attacks ball with good hand finish and lower body torque. Has deliberate delivery from the mound from 3/4 arm slot. Fastball velocity is straight at 77-78 mph. Curveball has inconsistent spin at 69 mph while change is straight at 70-71 mph.
Luke Veldman, RHP, Tipp City Bethel HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-6, 165-pound prospect with tall, lanky body and room for physical projection. Good delivery with some hesitation. Has quick arm action through 3/4 arm slot. Fastball showed some life in zone, ranging 80-82 mph (was 75-77 last summer). Slider/cutter had some bite (71-73 mph) while curve had slurvy tilt (59-61 mph). Showed some sink action on change (68 mph). Tends to slow down arm action with off-speed pitches.
Ross Wilson, RHP/1B, Northridge HS, Class of 2013
6-foot-3, 215-pound big bodied player who profiles best as a pitcher. Has moderate arm speed through 3/4 slot. Needs to improve balance in delivery. Has some life on fastball, ranging 81-83 mph. Has two types of curves, slower with some spin at 65-66 mph and slurvy harder one at 67-70 mph. Straight change registered at 68-70 mph. Has upper cut swing path from chest level trigger. Wide base stance, needs more lower half tourque. Good hand swing finish.
Ryan Addington, OF, Lakota West HS, Class of 2013
5-foot-9, 155-pound athletic outfielder with solid raw skills. Ran 7.0 60-yard dash (on slow surface). Showed 82 mph arm strength with carry from over the top arm slot. Shows open upright hitting stance from the left side. Triggers hands from shoulder with good hand swing finish. Needs to improve backside load and lower half tourque with swing.
