With the 2019 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state. Starting in January, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2019 Spring Team Preview: Sycamore Aves

Team Name: Sycamore Aves
Head Coach: Pete Muehlenkamp
Division: I
2018 Record: 11-16
Conference Record: Greater Miami Conference (8th)
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 3/1

2019 Team Strengths:

  • Offense
  • New Approach To Defense
  • Pitching

Coach Outlook: "Looking forward to a young team, including possible sophomores and freshmen.  We have a few seniors heading to Division I Junior College so we should have some talent to lead us."

PBR Outlook: The Aves and coach Pete Muehlenkamp have the difficult task of playing in the GMC and Southeast Ohio. The competition is always difficult, but in 2019 the Aves look to improve off an 11 win season from a year ago. Sycamore has some talent and should be competitive all year.

Top Returning Players:

  •  Lee May III (Video), CF, Sr., 6'1", 185, Lincoln Trail JC commit, .354/.417/.585 with 11 SBs.
  •  Wyatt Westendorf, RHP, 6'5", uncommitted, 2.22 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 31Ks in 28.1 IP.

Top Underclassmen:

  • Cort Kramer, JR, C:  Solid bat. 
  • Topher Gould, JR RHP: should be our #2 pitcher.
