GAHANNA - A commitment to Miami of Ohio means college baseball will be big part of the future for Dylan Swensen. It has the Gahanna Lincoln senior-to-be feeling pretty good these days. “This means a lot,” Swensen said. “Growing up I’ve always wanted to play in college. To play Division I is surreal. I have a future in the game. It shows you can do whatever you want as long as you work hard enough.” Dedication to improving certainly benefited the right-handed throwing Swensen, whose velo on the mound has shot up nearly 10 miles an hour in the past year. Interest from Miami followed, with Wright State and Dayton also in the mix to the end. “I threw four no-hit innings and was up to 90,” Swensen said about a recent travel ball game with the Dayton Classics that got the attention of college coaches. “I’d been talking to Miami and Wright State, but Dayton was new. Miami was really pushing hard and I went to the campus a couple days later.” That helped sell Swensen on his choice of college. |
