Q and A with 2015 Northern Kentucky Commit: Jesse Peters (Goshen HS)
August 12, 2014
Jesse Peters, LHP, Goshen HS, Class of 2015
PBR: Why did you choose Northern Kentucky?
Peters: NKU is just a great fit, it’s an up and coming D1 program in a great conference. It’s also close to home which is nice. And I really like the coaches.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Peters: I had offers from UC, Xavier, and Akron also. All of which are fantastic programs.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you and how did your relationship develop?
Peters: I actually emailed Coach Asalon first, and Coach Dizzy Peyton (pitching coach) saw me throw a game at NKU.
PBR: This summer you participated in PBR’s Top Prospects Games. How did your performance help you in the recruiting process?
Peters: The TPG was a great event, it exposed me to many scouts that I wouldn't have been in front of if it wasn't for PBR.
PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?
Peters: To be part of a D1 program feels amazing. People always talk about how few players go Division 1 and to be a part of those few is incredible.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Peters: I played for the Midwest Prospects this summer, and next summer I will be playing for the Cincinnati Spikes, at Prasco Park. The most memorable part of this season was probably making it to the semifinals of the CABA World Series in Charleston, SC. A heck of a run when we were short on players.
PBR: What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?
Peters: Probably my dad, he has been behind me 110% since I first started baseball.
PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Goshen?
Peters: 2.15 ERA with 32 k's in 28 innings.
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
Peters: Ironically, he goes to my school, Paul Collins. He can hit to all fields with power and he's just very tough to throw to.
