Q and A with 2016 Kent State Commit: Jimmy Crabtree (Utica HS)

Jimmy Crabtree, RHP/OF, Utica HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Kent State?

Crabtree: I chose Kent State because it feels like such a good fit. I feel like their coaches will help a lot in my development as a pitcher and as a position player and I really like the coaching staff.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Crabtree: I didn't really consider any other schools.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you and how did your relationship develop?

Crabtree: Coach Marconi first saw me last year at a Cleveland Indians workout.

PBR: You recently participated in PBR’s Top Prospects Games.  How did your performance help you in the recruiting process?

Crabtree: Participating in the TPG helped me showcase what I have to offer to the coaching staff once again.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Crabtree: It's a dream come true and I'm excited to play division 1 baseball.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Crabtree: I play for the Mid-Ohio Bullets in the summer and my most memorable experience is coming into the game out of the bullpen and feeling like I have complete control of the game.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Crabtree: My parents. They're my biggest fans and biggest supporters and I couldn't thank them enough for all the money, vacation time, and just everything they've done for me through this whole experience.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Utica?

Crabtree: I batted .395 with 8 home runs and had a 1.83 era.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Crabtree: The toughest hitter I have faced is Matt Smith who graduated from Fredericktown last year. It seemed like wherever I threw the ball, no matter what pitch it was impossible to get it by him.
