PBR: Why did you choose West Virginia?

Davis: I chose WVU because it met almost all of the criteria that I set up when I first started looking at schools. Big conference, has my major, travels a lot to warm places, a chance to play right away, and has a big student body. 

 PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Davis: I was considering Dayton, Tennessee Tech, Virginia Tech, UC, Louisville and Clemson.

PBR: Where did the West Virginia coaches first see you?  How did your relationship develop with them?

Davis: They first saw me at the CABA world series last summer in Euclid. Once I was on their radar, they sent other coaches out to see me and we remained in full contact throughout. I also attended a football game there last fall and met Coach Mazey and the whole staff. I really enjoyed it. 

PBR:  West Virginia is currently playing in the Big 12.  How much of an affect did that have on your decision?  

 Davis: That was a huge factor in my decision. I wanted to play as high level baseball as I could and the fact that they're in the Big 12 gave them an edge over some of the other schools I was looking at.

PBR:  You recently attended PBR’s Top Prospect Showcase.  How did that help you in the recruiting process?

Davis: It helped a little bit. Coach Trout was there so it helped for me to be seen by another WVU coach.

PBR:  West Virginia is in the early stages of building a new stadium.  How does it feel to know that you will be one of the first recruiting classes to play on the field? 

 Davis: It feels great and I'm very excited. I’ve seen renderings and concept drawings of it and if it comes out to be what it looks like in drawings, then it will be one of the nicest in the country. 

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Davis: WVU has a huge senior class of like 15 players next year so they expect the 2014's to come in and play a big role right away.   

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? 

Davis: My expectations were for the recruiting process to be long and complicated. It’s all a matter of being in the right place and the right time and doing something big when a scout is in attendance and then being consistent when they come back. I'm just glad it's finally over. 

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at CHCA?

Davis: I think I hit .470 or so and like 18 doubles and 33 RBI’s.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Davis: Cam Varga is pretty good! Just glad he’s my teammate.
